Abstract: A vehicle engine 2 comprises an exhaust system having an exhaust manifold 12 and an exhaust purification device 18. The exhaust manifold 12 is disposed at a predetermined distance from a dash panel 106 constituting a body of the vehicle 100, the exhaust purification device 18 is disposed in a position overlapping a floor tunnel region 114, formed by a floor tunnel of the body, and is disposed below the exhaust manifold 12 and to one side of the center of the engine 2 in the cylinder-array direction, as viewed from the longitudinal direction of the vehicle 100. An exhaust purification device introduction passage 17 connecting the exhaust manifold 12 and the exhaust purification device 18 is disposed on the other side of the center of the exhaust manifold 12 in the cylinder-array direction, and extends below the exhaust manifold 12 to be connected to the exhaust purification device 18.

Abstract: Disclosed is a controller for a turbocharged engine. The engine includes a supercharger configured to supercharge intake air using an exhaust gas from the engine, and including movable flaps arranged so that a boost pressure generated in an intake passage is adjustable. If a rotational speed of a turbine and compressor that constitute the supercharger has reached a first threshold lower than an endurance limit, an amount of fuel injected to the engine is reduced to a predetermined amount. If the rotational speed has reached a second threshold lower than the first threshold, the amount of fuel injected is reduced in accordance with an excess of the rotational speed over the second threshold.

Abstract: An exhaust device for an engine includes an engine main body having a cylinder head provided with a manifold exhaust passage formed with a gathering exhaust port, a turbo supercharger, a catalyst device provided adjacent to the turbo supercharger, and a processing device disposed on the same side as the cylinder head surface of the engine main body. The processing device includes an exhaust gas processing device and an EGR device. The turbo supercharger guides exhaust gas discharged from the gathering exhaust port upward. The catalyst device includes a carrier, and a container which allows the exhaust gas to pass through a lower region of the carrier. The EGR device and the exhaust gas processing device are at least disposed below the catalyst device.
