Abstract: A method and device for switching Representations are disclosed. On the server side, leading-picture information associated with leading pictures in an open GOP (group of picture) is signalled in a media presentation description. Each leading picture corresponds to one picture preceding a RAP (Random Access Picture) picture in a segment in an output order and being coded depending on the RAP picture. At the client side, an original Representation and a target representation are received and the leading-picture information for the target Representation is determined from the media presentation description received. A switched presentation is presented, where the switched presentation switches from the original Representation to the target Representation by switching presentation from pictures in the original Representation to pictures in the target Representation at a stream access point (SAP) corresponding to the RAP picture in one segment of the target representation determined according to the leading picture information.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for signaling or parsing constrained active entries in reference picture lists for multi-layer coding are disclosed. For the decoder side, when the current picture is a RADL (Random Access Decodable Leading) picture, reference picture list 0 or reference picture list 1 of the current picture is mandatorily required to contain no active entry corresponding to a RASL (Random Access Skipped Leading) picture with pps_mixed_nalu_types_in_pic_flag equal to 0 or a picture that precedes an associated IRAP (Intra Random Access Point) picture in decoding order, and wherein an active entry in the reference picture list 0 or the reference picture list 1 of the RADL picture can refer to a RASL picture with the pps_mixed_nalu_types_in_pic_flag equal to 1 and a referenced RASL picture either belongs to the same layer or a different layer than a layer containing the current picture which is the RADL picture.

Abstract: A method and system of multimedia streaming services using DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) are disclosed. According to this method, one or more Push Directives are sent from a client to a server to indicate information related to media data requested. Each Push Directive comprises a Push type including Push-rate and Push-rate Directive includes information associated with a push data rate related to the media data requested. If the Push-rate Directive is received by the server, one or more groups of data for the media data requested are pushed from the server to the client according to the push data rate. According to another method, fragmented MPDS are used, where at least one fragmented MPD omits a MPD header, MPD payload, Period header or Period payload. In yet another method, a status message group includes SharedResourceAllocation message that comprises parameters including bandwidth and pacingRate.

Abstract: A method and system of message exchange for controlling flow associated with multimedia streaming services from a server to a client using DASH are disclosed. In one method, one or more Push Directives are sent from a client to a server to indicate information related to media data requested. At least one selected Push Directive uses one URLTemplate that comprises a list of media parameter values, and where each media parameter value corresponds to one media parameter associated with one media segment requested. The server then pushes one or more groups of data for the media data requested to the client according to the list of media parameter values. In another method, at least one selected Push Directive uses one URLTemplate that includes a first number to represent a number of repeating difference of media parameter values associated with requested media segments.

Abstract: A method and system of AL-FEC using MMT protocol performed are disclosed. For an MMT receiving entity, a bounded FEC configuration setting is received from an MMT sending entity. The bounded FEC configuration setting belongs to an FEC configuration group consisting of at least one FEC configuration setting having a bounded-number of stages or layers of FEC coding structure, where the bounded-number is a positive integer greater than 1. If the bounded FEC configuration setting corresponds to one FEC configuration setting having the bounded-number of stages or layers of FEC coding structure, one or more FEC source packets and FEC repair packets are received from the MMT sending entity are FEC decoded into one recovered MMT packet using a range of FEC schemes having a target number of stages or layers of FEC coding structure from 1 to the bounded-number. The process for an MMT sending entity is also disclosed.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for video coding are disclosed. According to one method, a bitstream is generated or received, where the bitstream includes a first syntax and a second syntax. The first syntax is related to a target number of bits used to represent a set of third syntaxes and each third syntax specifies one subpicture ID for one subpicture in a set of subpictures. The second syntax is related to a total number of subpictures in the set of subpicture, where a first number that can be represented by the target number of bits is equal to or greater than the total number of subpictures. According to another method, the subpicture ID syntaxes have different values for different subpictures.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide an apparatus that includes interface circuitry and processing circuitry. The interface circuitry is configured to receive signals carrying metadata for visual track composition from multiple visual tracks. The visual track composition includes alpha compositing, and can include spatial compositing and background compositing. The processing circuitry is configured to parse the metadata to extract configuration information for the visual track composition. Further, the processing circuitry receives a first sample from a first visual track and a second sample from a second visual track, and combines the first sample with the second sample to generate a composite sample based on the configuration information for the visual track composition.

Abstract: Method and apparatus of video coding using a multi-layer prediction mode, are disclosed. According to one method, a bitstream is generated at an encoder side or received at a decoder side, where the bitstream corresponds to coded data of current video data in a current layer. The bitstream complies with a bitstream conformance requirement corresponding both the bit depth values for the current layer and the reference layer being the same and the chroma format index values for the current layer and the reference layer being the same. The current video data in the current layer is then encoded or decoded by utilizing reference video data in the reference layer.
