Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for intelligently accessing one or more different hardware-based mechanisms for cropping out, blurring or blocking private content in a live preview image generated for the camera and in media recorded by the camera. The technique incudes receiving input regarding a plurality of objects to be concealed in media captured by an imaging device and identifying at least one of the plurality of objects in a field of view of the imaging device. Further, the technique includes modifying the at least one of the plurality of objects in a live preview image or media captured by the imaging device using one or more hardware-based actuators, where the modifying the at least one of the plurality of objects causes the one of the plurality of objects to be concealed.

Abstract: A flat-surfaced, electrically controlled, tunable lens to provide autofocus, optical zoom, optical image stabilization, and similar functionalities is described. A thickness profile of the tunable lens may be modified through a voltage-controlled thin film piezo actuator, for example, a lead-zirconium-titanium oxide (PZT) film. For autofocus and optical zoom features, an entire thickness of the tunable lens may be modified with the thickness being the same across a cross-section area of the tunable lens and opposing surfaces of the tunable lens remaining flat. For optical image stabilization, the thickness profile of the tunable lens may be modified to a tilted profile, where one side of the tunable lens is thinner than the other side with the opposing surfaces of the tunable lens remaining flat. The tilted profile may have an angle between the two plates (surfaces) in a range up to 10 degrees.

Abstract: A depth camera assembly (DCA) for depth sensing of a local area includes a structured light generator, an imaging device, and a controller. The structured light generator illuminates the local area with a structured light pattern. The structured light generator includes a programmable diffractive optical element (PDOE) that generates diffracted scanning beams using optical beams. The PDOE functions as a dynamic diffraction grating that dynamically adjusts diffraction of the optical beams to generate the diffracted scanning beams of different patterns. The diffracted scanning beams are projected as the structured light pattern into the local area, wherein the structured light pattern is dynamically adjustable based on the PDOE. The imaging device captures image(s) of at least a portion of the structured light pattern reflected from object(s) in the local area. The controller determines depth information for the object(s) based on the captured image(s).

Abstract: A depth camera assembly for depth sensing of a local area includes a structured light generator, an imaging device, and a controller. The structured light generator illuminates a local area with structured light and includes an illumination source, a mounting element, and a diffractive optical element (DOE) mounted on the mounting element. The mounting element can have a plurality of adjustable positions relative to the illumination source based on emission instructions from the controller. The DOE generates, using light emitted from the illumination source, diffracted scanning beams that are projected as the structured light into the local area. A pattern of the structured light is dynamically adjustable and unique for each adjustable position of the mounting element. The imaging device captures image(s) of the structured light reflected from object(s) in the local area. The controller determines depth information for the object(s) based in part on the captured image(s).

Abstract: An augmented reality apparatus includes a plurality of transmission lines, plural signal-generating circuits, at least one additional transmission line, at least one signal-processing circuit, a multiplexer having a plurality of inputs and at least one output, a plurality of matching networks, and an additional matching network coupling the additional transmission line to the output of the multiplexer.
