Abstract: A power adapter assembly and an electrical system. The power adapter assembly is operable to supply power to an electrical device. The power adapter assembly includes a power box including a housing, an electrical circuit supported by the housing, the electrical circuit being operable to receive as input AC power and to output DC power, an adapter controller operable to control the adapter assembly; and an adapter electrically connected to the power box, the adapter including an adapter engagement portion connectable to a device engagement portion to connect the adapter to the electrical device, DC power being output from the electrical circuit through the adapter to the electrical device to power the load, when the adapter engagement portion is connected to the device engagement portion, a communication interface between the adapter assembly and the electrical device being active even when power is not being output to power the load.

Abstract: A portable power supply includes a housing, a control area network (“CAN”) bus, a battery core configured to be charged by a battery core charger, a battery pack charger connected to the battery core and to the CAN bus via a galvanic isolation barrier. A battery management system is connected to the battery pack charger via the CAN bus and a power line and configured to control an operation of the battery pack charger and the battery core charger. A battery pack detection circuit is connected to one or more charging ports of the one or more charging modules. The battery pack detection circuit configured to draw current from a battery pack and produce a battery pack detection signal at battery management system via a galvanic isolation device.

Abstract: A portable power supply including a first subcore including a first plurality of battery cells, a second subcore including a second plurality battery cells and electrically connected in series with the first subcore, and a controller including an electronic processor. The controller is configured to receive a first voltage value indicative of a voltage of the first plurality of battery cells from the first subcore and a second voltage value indicative of a voltage of the second plurality of battery cells from the second subcore. The controller is further configured to determine a difference between the first voltage value and the second voltage value, compare the difference to a balance threshold, and perform a balancing operation when the difference is greater than or equal to the balance threshold.
