Abstract:
A method for transmitting data in a single-frequency network in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network includes receiving media for broadcast in a broadcast area of a plurality of broadcast areas associated with a single-frequency network, wherein the broadcast area comprises a plurality of cells; identifying a subset of defined broadcast resources for broadcasting the media to the broadcast area; broadcasting the media to the broadcast area using the subset of defined broadcast resources; and broadcasting a null pattern on the subset of defined broadcast resources in adjacent broadcast areas to the broadcast area. An associated LTE network and broadcast controller are also described.
Abstract:
A method and mobile device are provided that manage a relay service in a public safety wireless communication system. When the mobile device determines one or more of: another mobile device has exited or is exiting a public safety vehicle or another first mobile device is not receiving a signal from a wide area network of acceptable signal quality, the mobile device activates a relay service. In response to activating the relay service, the mobile device announces an availability of the relay service at the mobile device, receives a registration of the another mobile device for the relay service, and, in response to receiving the registration, relays communications between the another mobile device and an access node. In another embodiment, a method is provided for negotiating a provision of a relay service among multiple mobile devices, wherein each such mobile device currently is providing a relay service.
Abstract:
A network node receives a first connection request from user equipment to join a broadband network at a first interface. A mobility manager in the network node accepts the first connection request. The mobility manager sends data from a core network addressed to the user equipment and receives data from the user equipment through the first interface. The mobility manager receives, from a local area network, a second connection request sent from the user equipment. The second connection request is for the user equipment to communicate with the broadband network via the local area network. The mobility manager accepts the second connection request and offloads data transmitted to and received from the user equipment to a second interface on the network node. The second interface is configured to send data to and receive data from the user equipment via the local area network.
Abstract:
A method for registering an Internet of Things (IoT) device to an incident IoT ledger system is provided. An IoT device is installed at a location. At least one feature of the IoT device is prevented from functioning the IoT device is registered with an incident IoT ledger system. Upon registering incident-relevant attributes associated with the IoT device and the location of the IoT device with an incident IoT ledger system, full functioning of the IoT device is enabled after successful registration with the incident IoT ledger system.
Abstract:
A computer apparatus, such as a validator node, for validating incident-related data records in a distributed electronic ledger is configured to receive a request from an agent to add a proposed incident-related data record associated with an incident to the distributed electronic ledger. In response to the proposed incident-related data record, the computer apparatus determines, from the distributed electronic ledger, one or more attributes of the agent or incident. The computer apparatus determines whether the proposed incident-related data record satisfies validation criteria based at least partially on the one or more attributes of the agent or incident. Once validated, the computer apparatus may then append the proposed incident-related data record to the distributed electronic ledger. Alternatively, the proposed incident-related data record may be appended regardless of validity, but an indication of validity may be appended if the proposed incident-related data record is validated.
Abstract:
A method and a system for operating a radio network controller (RNC) in a wireless communication system. The RNC generates a group database comprising a plurality of transmitting groups and a resultant Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) associated with the transmissions received from each member within each transmitting group meets a pre-defined SINR threshold. The RNC tests the received SQMs associated with a new transmitting subscriber unit with the resultant SINR associated with each transmitting group to assign the new subscriber unit to at least one transmitting group on determining that the new transmitting subscriber unit could be added to the at least one transmitting group without reducing a resultant SINR associated with the at least one transmitting group below the pre-defined SINR threshold.
