Abstract: A portable radio includes a housing having a front display. The front display includes a liquid crystal display structure, a first layer of touch panel rear glass disposed exterior to the liquid crystal display structure, and a second layer of touch panel front glass disposed exterior to the first layer of touch panel rear glass. The second layer of touch panel front glass provides a viewable surface and user interface. The front display also includes a vacuum layer disposed between the first layer of touch panel rear glass and the second layer of touch panel front glass, and a plurality of spacers disposed in the vacuum layer that maintain a gap. The front display also includes a seal that at least partially seals and maintains a vacuum within the vacuum layer.

Abstract: A radio housing (100) is formed of a front plate (102) having screw mount receptacles (222, 223, 224, 228, 229, 230) and first and second side plates (104, 106). The first and second side plates (104, 106) have a plurality of non-symmetrical, three-dimensional (3-D), dovetail sections (108, 110, 112, 114) for aligning and capturing the screw mount receptacles (222, 223, 224, 228, 229, 230) of the front plate (102). The front plate (102) and first and second side plates (104, 106) are formed of an injection molded thermoplastic material. The three pieces (102, 104, 106) are coupled together. The three-piece injection housing formed of injunction molded materials allows the housing (100) to be customized to specific customer requests not currently available with past overmolded materials.

Abstract: An electrical connector and an electronic device including the electrical connector. The electrical connector comprises a housing and an electrical contact. The housing includes a first wall oriented in a first direction, a second wall oriented in a second direction that is transverse to the first direction, and an aperture defined by the first wall and the second wall. The electrical contact is disposed within the aperture and has a singular structure with a first end and a second end opposite from the first end. A first portion of the electrical contact extends from the aperture in the second direction and is configured to deflect toward the first wall along the second direction. A second portion of the electrical contact extends from the aperture in the first direction and is configured to deflect toward the second wall along the first direction.

Abstract: A device with a microphone and a condensation collection apparatus to prevent migration of condensation to the microphone is provided. The device comprises a microphone; a board having an acoustic port therethrough, the microphone positioned to accept sound through the acoustic port; a moisture-resistant, acoustically transparent membrane over the acoustic port; an outer membrane that receives the sound for the microphone, the outer membrane being non-permeable to at least moisture; and a condensation collection apparatus between the outer membrane and the acoustically transparent membrane. The condensation collection apparatus comprises: an aperture through which the sound from the outer membrane passes; and one or more condensation collection features, at an outer-membrane facing side of the condensation collection apparatus, configured to: collect condensation that migrates from an inner side of the outer membrane; and prevent migration of the condensation, that is collected, through the aperture.
