Abstract: A portable radio includes a printed circuit board, a frame positioned in front of the printed circuit board, a speaker positioned within the frame, a support platform positioned in front of the speaker and the frame, a button positioned in front of the support platform, and electrical components linked between the button and the printed circuit board. The button is movable between a first position where an electrical signal is sent through the plurality of electrical components to the printed circuit board, and a second position where the electrical signal is interrupted.

Abstract: A device with a microphone and a condensation collection apparatus to prevent migration of condensation to the microphone is provided. The device comprises a microphone; a board having an acoustic port therethrough, the microphone positioned to accept sound through the acoustic port; a moisture-resistant, acoustically transparent membrane over the acoustic port; an outer membrane that receives the sound for the microphone, the outer membrane being non-permeable to at least moisture; and a condensation collection apparatus between the outer membrane and the acoustically transparent membrane. The condensation collection apparatus comprises: an aperture through which the sound from the outer membrane passes; and one or more condensation collection features, at an outer-membrane facing side of the condensation collection apparatus, configured to: collect condensation that migrates from an inner side of the outer membrane; and prevent migration of the condensation, that is collected, through the aperture.

Abstract: A microphone packaging assembly (100) provides a printed circuit board (pcb) (106) for coupling to a microphone device (102) having a bottom acoustic port (104). The pcb provides an acoustic port opening (108) which aligns with the bottom acoustic port (104) of the microphone device (102). A solder pad pattern (110) is disposed on the pcb (106). The solder pad pattern (110) is configured to provide both electrical connection (114) and an incomplete solder seal (116) having purposeful acoustic leak to the microphone device (102). A conformable coating (126) provides a seal to the purposeful acoustic leak. A single acoustic test can be performed to detect proper environmental protection and acoustic sealing of the packaged assembly (100).

Abstract: An apparatus, method and communication system are provided for acoustically detecting the deployment of equipment. The equipment may comprise portable objects (104), such as a gun, taser or baton, used by law enforcement. The apparatus comprises plurality of acoustical ridges (108) integrated within a body worn accessory (102). A predetermined sound pattern (130, 140) is generated from the acoustical ridges in response to sliding the portable object across the plurality of acoustical ridges integrated within a body worn accessory. Information pertaining to the portable object, such as dynamic information pertaining to the removal and insertion of the portable object to and from the body worn accessory (102) is determined. A communication system (300) including a portable communication device (112) can store the information and/or transmit alert signals to a base station (302) for tracking deployment of the portable object.
