摘要: There is provided a liquid crystal display device in which the gap between its transparent substrates can be kept uniform irrespective of whether the temperature of the device is normal temperature or high temperature. The liquid crystal display device includes transparent substrates disposed in opposition to each other with a liquid crystal being interposed therebetween, and plural spacers secured to one of the transparent substrates so as to support the other transparent substrate. The plural spacers include first spacers and second spacers, and the first spacers are formed of a material whose elasticity is higher than that of the second spacers, and are larger in height than the second spacers.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device is capable of providing high-quality picture display by preventing luminance irregularity in a display screen due to the nonuniformity of a cell gap. The liquid crystal display device includes at least two or more kinds of color filters FIL formed over one of substrates, the color filters having different colors for displaying a color display, a black matrix interposed between each of the color filters, pixel-forming electrodes ITO2, an alignment control layer, a spacer SOC fixedly formed over at least one of the substrates with a height approximately equal to a desired gap between the substrates, and a bead interposed between the substrates and made of a resin material whose average grain size is slightly greater than the height of the spacer SOC.

摘要: There is provided a liquid crystal display device in which light leaks near spacers are prevented. The liquid crystal display device controls the optical transmissivity of a liquid crystal layer interposed between substrates disposed in opposition to each other, by means of an electric field generated in the layer-thickness direction of the liquid crystal layer, includes spacers formed on a liquid-crystal-side surface of one of the substrates, signal lines formed on a liquid-crystal-side surface of the other substrate, an insulating film formed to cover the signal lines, and electrodes formed on the upper surface of the insulating film, each of which serves as one electrode contributing to control of the optical transmissivity of the liquid crystal layer. Each of the spacers has a vertex surface disposed in opposition to any of the signal lines, and a portion of each of the electrodes is extended to the upper surface of a corresponding one of the signal lines and the extended portion is opposed to a part of the vertex surface of a spacer disposed in opposition to the corresponding one of the signal lines.

摘要: Decreasing the non-uniformity of display by photo-deterioration of the liquid crystal material is achieved in order to provide high grade liquid crystal display devices. A pair of substrates holding a liquid crystal layer between them are adhered together with a resin, and at least an opening for injecting liquid crystal into the interval between the pair of substrates is provided in the resin portion. The opening is sealed with a photo-curable resin. The liquid crystal layer contains a photo-reactive liquid crystal compound, the molecular structure of which is converted by a photo-irradiation, and an photo-absorbing organic compound having a photo-absorptivity larger than that of the photo-reactive liquid crystal compound at a designated wavelength, and containing at least one of alkyl substituent, alkenyl substituent, and alkoxyl substituent of 1-8 carbon atoms, respectively, in its molecule.
