摘要: The invention provides for a method and display apparatus (10) having driving circuitry for driving a display panel (24) having a plurality of addressable discharge cells (26) driven by display pulses (DP), including the steps of applying data pulses (DAP) during the time interval between display pulses (DP) and characterized by the step of priming charges for each of the discharge cells (26) by means of the reset discharges so as to reduce the required data voltage, and in particular such a method wherein one TV-field period (TF) is divided into a plurality of sub-fields (SF) all of which are of substantially equal time durations.

摘要: An active matrix display comprises a select driver (SD) to drive select electrodes (SE), and a data driver (DD) to supply data (D) to data electrodes (DE). Pixels (10) are associated with intersections of the data electrodes (DE) and the select electrodes (SE). The pixels (10) comprise a light emitting element (L) and a pixel driving circuit (PD). The pixel driving circuit (PD) receives a power supply voltage (VB) via a power supply electrode (PE), and data (D) via a data electrode (DE) to control a brightness of the light emitting element (L). A power supply (PS) supplies the power supply voltage (VB). The power supply electrodes (PE) are arranged to supply the power supply voltage (VB) to the pixel driving circuits (PD) of lines of pixels (10) extending in the same direction as the select electrodes (SE) or in the same direction as the data electrodes (DE). The load (AL; MA; IL) on the power supply electrodes (PE) caused by the pixels (10) associated with the lines of pixels (10) is determined (LL), and the level of the power supply voltage (VB) is controlled (CO) dependent on the load (AL; MA; IL).

摘要: A display device (1) of the matrix type is addressed using partial line doubling, i.e. a method in which one or more sub-fields for pixels are doubled, meaning that the same data is used for a set of pixels. Adjacent pixels in a row are addressed using different grey level realizations by applying different combinations of subfields. Partial line doubling is performed on sets of adjacent pixels in a column that are addressed using the same grey level realization. Two different addressing schemes may be used by applying either the standard pattern A/B or the second pattern (n×1 A/B). When applying the latter pattern partial line doubling is performed in a line skipping fashion.

摘要: A scanning display apparatus (10) is described. The apparatus (10) includes a display (70) operable: (I) to receive driver signals and generate corresponding visual information for presentation on the display (70); and (ii) to sense radiation received at the display (70) and generating corresponding sensing signals corresponding to a region proximate to the display. The apparatus (10) also includes computer hardware (80) coupled to the display (70) for generating the one or more driver signals for the display (70) and for receiving the one or more sensing signals from the display (70), the computer hardware (80) being operable to provide an interactive user interface (ULI) at the display (70). The display (70) comprises an array of pixel devices (150), each such device (150) integrally being operable to emit radiation therefrom or transmit radiation therethrough, and also to sense radiation incident thereupon. Preferably, the pixel devices (150) are implemented in polyLEDs and/or LCD/TFT technologies.

摘要: An image display including a touch-sensitive display, that creates tactile sensation and movement of an object (3-2) along its surface is provided. Actuators including conductive rods (4-111, 4-112) attached together may be used, such that each rod of the actuator (4-11) may increase or decrease in size when current is applied to that rod to cause the actuator to bend toward a specified direction. Also, an image display that includes ball bearings (1-10) whose rotation is controlled by driving magnets (1-21, 1-22) to cause an object to move is provided. Further, air holes (3-11) tilted in various directions to control object movement by air pressure may be provided. Moreover, rods (3-10) may be moved up or down as activated by driving magnets (2-20). The actuators, rods, ball bearing assemblies, or holes may provide touch sensitivity for the image display.

摘要: The present invention provides a method of displaying successive image frames or fields on a matrix display device, said display device comprising a predetermined number of display lines each including a predetermined number of picture elements, wherein said pixels are coded in subfields and said matrix display device is driven by said subfields and wherein the luminance values to be displayed are derived from original luminance values having a higher number of bits than the number of bits to be displayed by a pixel element, said method further comprising the following steps: using one or more of the subfields with the lowest or lower weight(s) in a dithering process; and addressing two or more lines simultaneously for supplying common values to one or more subfields having a higher weight than said lowest or lower weight(s) of the pixels of said lines with respective common values.
