    摘要: A pickup device which, focusing a ray bundle on a track of a recording surface of an optical recording medium to form a light spot, comprises a detection optical system including a photo detector to receive return light reflected from the light spot via an objective lens and perform photoelectric conversion. The photo detector has at least two photoreceptor sections positioned axis-symmetrical with respect to a detection-side division line extending through an optical axis of the return light and parallel to the track. A dividing element placed in an optical path between the photo detector and the objective lens includes at least two inner divided areas positioned axis-symmetrical with respect to a deflection-side division line extending through the optical axis of the return light and parallel to the track, and at least two outer divided areas positioned sandwiching the inner divided areas and axis-symmetrical with respect to the deflection-side division line. The inner divided areas are formed such that parts of a light beam from the other region than overlap regions, divided axis-symmetrically along the deflection-side division line, are exchanged in position across the detection-side division line and directed to the photoreceptor sections of the photo detector so as to be axis-symmetrical with respect to the detection-side division line.

    摘要: A hologram recording method is a method of recording a hologram, on a hologram recording apparatus that records information by forming a diffraction grating through oppositely irradiating the signal beam and the reference beam to the hologram record carrier. The hologram recording method includes a step of focusing the reference beam at a first numerical aperture from a first effective diameter by means of the reference-beam objective lens, a step of separating the reference beam in a part on the optical axis and a neighborhood thereof to thereby produce from the reference beam a recording reference beam to passes through the hologram record carrier at a second numerical aperture smaller than the first numerical aperture from a second effective diameter smaller than the first effective diameter by means of the reference-beam objective lens of the reference-beam optical system, and allowing the recording reference beam to exit coaxially to the reference beam, and a step of not allowing only the recording reference beam to exit toward the hologram record carrier by means of the signal-beam optical system.

    摘要: A recording and reproducing method for recording and/or reproducing information from a record carrier that comprises a plurality of recording layers layered in its film thickness direction and a guide layer having a plurality of tracks carrying tracking servo information, wherein a record mark is formed on each recording layer of the record carrier. The method comprises: a focusing step of converging a servo light beam onto the guide layer as well as selectively converging a main light beam group onto one of the recording layers through a common objective lens, wherein the main light beam group comprises a plurality of main light beams neighboring each other; a tracking step of performing a positioning control of the objective lens so that the servo light beam is tracking on one of the tracks; and a recording and/or reproducing step of performing recording and/or reproducing information with the main light beam group while performing the focusing step and the tracking step. When the servo light beam traces on one of the tracks neighboring each other, one trace group is composed of the main light beam group on the one of the recording layers, wherein, when the servo light beam traces on the other of the tracks neighboring each other, the other trace group is composed of the main light beam group on the one of the recording layers, wherein an interval between the one trace group and the other trace group is larger than an average trace pitch within the trace group.

    摘要: An optical pickup projects laser beams having the first to the third wavelengths, in response to the type of a recording medium which is an object to which recording or reproduction is to be performed, and reflecting light from the recording medium is received by a light-detecting element. In order to reduce the sizes of the optical pickup, light of the second and the third wavelengths is generated by a single dual-wavelength light source, and reflecting light of all the wavelengths is to be received by the single light-detecting element. A hologram element giving different optical effects to light of each wavelength is arranged between the light irradiating means and the light-detecting element. Thus, appropriate information recording and reproduction can be performed by using light of each wavelength.
