    摘要: A pickup device which, focusing a ray bundle on a track of a recording surface of an optical recording medium to form a light spot, comprises a detection optical system including a photo detector to receive return light reflected from the light spot via an objective lens and perform photoelectric conversion. The photo detector has at least two photoreceptor sections positioned axis-symmetrical with respect to a detection-side division line extending through an optical axis of the return light and parallel to the track. A dividing element placed in an optical path between the photo detector and the objective lens includes at least two inner divided areas positioned axis-symmetrical with respect to a deflection-side division line extending through the optical axis of the return light and parallel to the track, and at least two outer divided areas positioned sandwiching the inner divided areas and axis-symmetrical with respect to the deflection-side division line. The inner divided areas are formed such that parts of a light beam from the other region than overlap regions, divided axis-symmetrically along the deflection-side division line, are exchanged in position across the detection-side division line and directed to the photoreceptor sections of the photo detector so as to be axis-symmetrical with respect to the detection-side division line.

    摘要: A pickup device includes an irradiation optical system containing an objective lens for forming a spot by converging a light beam onto a track of a recording surface of an optical recording medium having a plurality of laminated recording layers; and a detection optical system containing a photodetector for receiving, through the objective lens, return light which was reflected and returned from the spot to perform a photoelectric conversion, in which a position of the objective lens is controlled in response to an electric signal arithmetically operated from an output of the photodetector. The photodetector includes a plurality of photosensing element groups which are arranged away from each other on a plane to which an optical axis of the return light penetrates perpendicularly and each of the groups is composed of a plurality of photosensing elements. The pickup device further comprises a dividing element disposed on another plane to which the optical axis of the return light penetrates perpendicularly. The dividing element has: at least two division regions which are formed so as to be line-symmetrical with respect to a track directional line which intersects with the optical axis of the return light and extends in parallel with the track; at least two division regions which are formed so as to be line-symmetrical with respect to a track vertical line which intersects with the optical axis of the return light and extends in the direction perpendicular to the track; and a center division region which includes the optical axis of the return light and is formed so as to be point-symmetrical with respect to the optical axis of the return light. The dividing element divides the return light into a plurality of partial light beams at respective division regions to deflecting the partial light beams from the division regions other than the center division region to the photosensing element groups.

    摘要: An optical pickup projects laser beams having the first to the third wavelengths, in response to the type of a recording medium which is an object to which recording or reproduction is to be performed, and reflecting light from the recording medium is received by a light-detecting element. In order to reduce the sizes of the optical pickup, light of the second and the third wavelengths is generated by a single dual-wavelength light source, and reflecting light of all the wavelengths is to be received by the single light-detecting element. A hologram element giving different optical effects to light of each wavelength is arranged between the light irradiating means and the light-detecting element. Thus, appropriate information recording and reproduction can be performed by using light of each wavelength.
