Abstract:
The down hole motor is a self-contained radial drive unit that is driven by a linear input, which can be supplied from various sources. As linear motion is applied to the input of the tool, drive pins on a drive shaft follow a helical path, converting the linear motion into radial motion at the attached mandrel end. This may then be utilized in various activities such as drilling, boring and obstruction removal. This tool may also be used in conjunction with jarring mechanisms in order to create an impact drilling device, or a percussion motor.
Abstract:
A regulator circuit supplies a regulated low, DC voltage that is derived from an unregulated voltage provided by a pair of redundant batteries. The regulator circuit comprises regulation control that responds to a feedback signal developed from monitoring the regulated voltage to maintain the regulated voltage at a desired level. Battery monitors supervise the voltage levels of the batteries used, and shut down the regulator when the battery voltages drop below a predetermined voltage level to preserve battery life.
Abstract:
A method for detecting JTAG errors in which components in a boundary scan path of a JTAG serial test bus connect a single bit bypass register into the scan path rather than the expected register when errors are detected. JTAG instruction signals are shifted into the scan path to determine whether an instruction error was received by a component. Data scanned into the component is prefixed by a header which is monitored by the JTAG control circuitry to detect any instruction errors. The combined data and header are padded by bits preceding the header to be equal to a multiple of a data register contained within the JTAG control circuitry. The least significant bit positions of the header and the padding bits are shifted out of the data register prior to the time that the header or first byte of the header should have been in the data register of the JTAG control circuitry such that the least significant bit of the data register is a 1, if no single error occurred, and is a 0 if a single error occurred.
Abstract:
To protect the paper machine fourdrinier screen, deckle blades are fabricated with a soft polymer (polytetrafluoroethylene) lower edge having little adhesive affinity for either papermaking fiber or traditional plastic bonding compounds. Necessary structural rigidity is contributed to the assembly by a mechanical cladding of suitably stiff polymer plates that are adhesively bonded to a compatible plastic mounting body.
Abstract:
A mounting system for removably mounting a sensor array adjacent the wire of a papermaking machine. The mounting system comprises an elongate base member formed with a tongue or groove with a corresponding interlocking groove or tongue formed on the sensor array adapted to be slidably received and retained by the elongate base member. The tongue and groove are dimensioned to permit relative movement of the sensor array with respect to the base member. An inflatable bladder is housed between the elongate base member and the sensor array and the bladder is adapted to be inflated to move the tongue and groove into a locked position to fix the position of the sensor array with respect to the elongate base member. This arrangement allows for easy and efficient removal of the sensor array when the bladder is unpressurized while providing reliable clamping when the bladder is inflated. Adjustable fasteners associated with the base are also provided to allow for fine tuning of the height of the sensor array and the tilt of the array to accommodate the wire of the papermaking machine.
Abstract:
A digital computer system that contains redundant communication paths between two or more computer components. Each computer component has an interface logic that communicates with other interface logic units to determine if the redundant communication paths are correctly coupled between the components.
Abstract:
An electronic imaging apparatus is provided which has means for detecting the presence of internal structure in an opaque or translucent object. The apparatus has a light source directing a beam of light towards the object from one side and a light receiver on another side thereof to convert invisible light passing through the object into a visible image. Means to record the image produced is made available as well as means to produce a three dimensional image or drawing.
Abstract:
Provided is a read channel, storage drive, and method to process signals read from a storage medium. At least one data channel including an interpolator and equalizer and a servo channel includes an interpolator. A timing recovery function processes a timing error from the interpolator in the servo channel to calculate interpolation timing information used by the interpolator to interpolate a servo channel signal. A path is coupled to the timing recovery function and the interpolator in the at least one data channel to communicate the interpolation timing information to the interpolator in the at least one data channel. The interpolator in the at least one data channel is configured to use the interpolation timing information to interpolate an asynchronous data channel signal.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus to monitor the positioning of a tape leader pin in a tape threader block moveably disposed in a tape drive. The' apparatus includes a tape threader block assembly comprising a first circuit having a first coil, a second circuit having a second coil, where that second circuit has an impedance, where the first coil is disposed adjacent the second coil. The apparatus further includes a detection circuit which detects the impedance of the second circuit, where the second circuit has a first impedance when the first circuit is open, and where the second circuit has a second impedance when the second circuit is closed. In the event a tape leader pin is properly releaseably fixtured to Applicants' threader block, the first circuit is closed and the impedance of the second circuit changes. The detection circuit detects that impedance change and provides a signal to a controller indicating that the tape leader pin is properly seated in the threader block.
