    摘要: A process of preparing compounds containing silicon-carbon bonds by the hydrosilation of a hydridoalkoxysilyl reactant with an olefinic reactant comprises operating the process in the presence of a platinum catalyst and a reaction promoter comprising a weakly nucleophilic amine of the formula NZ1Z2Z3 wherein Z1 is an aryl, alkaryl, or aralkyl group of C6 to C20 carbon atoms, or an organosilyl substituent, SiR3, wherein R is an alkyl of C1 to C20 or an aryl of C6 to C10, Z2 is hydrogen, alkyl of C1 to C20, an aryl, alkaryl, or aralkyl group of C6 to C20 carbon atoms or SiR3, wherein R is as previously defined; Z3 is the same as Z1 or Z2, and, optionally, two Of Z1, Z2 and Z3 taken together with the nitrogen atom form an aromatic heterocyclic ring.

    摘要: A process for the manufacture of a blocked mercaptosilane comprising: reacting at least one polysulfane-containing organosilicon compound of the general formula: (R13SiG)2Sn (a) in which each R1 is independently methoxy, ethoxy or alkyl of from 1 to about 6 carbon atoms, provided, that at least one R1 group is methoxy or ethoxy, G is an alkylene group of from 1 to about 12 carbon atoms and n is from 2 to about 8, with at least one alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or a basic derivative of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal to provide the corresponding metal salt of the polysulfane-containing organosilicon compound and; (b) reacting the metal salt of the polysulfane-containing organosilicon compound with an acyl halide or carbonyl dihalide to provide a blocked mercaptosilane.

The process can be used to prepare, inter alia, chloropropyltriethoxysilane, which is a key intermediate in the manufacture of silane coupling agents.

    摘要: The present invention concerns aqueous coating systems, providing an aqueous coating composition which comprises water, a film-forming component and at least one inorganic pigment surface treated with one or more organosilicon compounds from the alkyltrialkoxysilanes, the dialkyldialkoxysilanes and mixtures, oligomers, and copolymers of the alkyltrialkoxysilanes and dialkyldialkoxysilanes, wherein the alkyl groups contain from three to six carbon atoms and optionally contain an oxygen atom or contain fluorine and/or chlorine heteroatoms. By controlling and limiting the amounts used of these organosilicon surface treatments, the dispersibility of a conventionally hydrophilic inorganic pigment such as titanium dioxide is not materially adversely affected, but improvements are at the same time afforded in terms of the compatibility of the pigment with the film-forming component, as demonstrated by improved tint strength and gloss properties in a paint composition.

    摘要: An improved process for making an organosilicon compound surface-treated titanium dioxide material, comprising (a) forming a mixture of the titanium dioxide material in water, (b) wet milling the mixture, (c) adjusting the pH of the slurry resulting from step (b) to between about 5.0 and about 8.5, (d) after step (c), removing the titanium dioxide material from the mixture by vacuum or pressure filtration, (e) after step (d), washing the titanium dioxide material so removed, (f) after step (e), converting the washed titanium dioxide material to a fluid dispersion having a pH of from about 3.5 to less than about 7 via addition of a fluidizing agent comprising a water-soluble monoprotic acid, (g) after, or concurrently with, step (f), adding to the resulting dispersion of titanium dioxide material an organosilicon compound, with mixing, and (h) spray drying the dispersion of the washed titanium dioxide material resulting from step (g) to yield a dry titanium dioxide pigment powder.
