摘要： Disclosed is a fixing apparatus which includes a first rotatable member having an endless configuration, a second rotatable member in pressure contact with the first rotatable member which causes a recording material bearing an image to be nipped and conveyed at a pressure contact portion between the first and second rotatable members, a temperature raising unit for raising temperature of a local portion of the first rotatable member by reception of electric power supply, a temperature detecting unit for detecting temperature of a location different from the pressure contact portion with respect to a rotational direction of the first rotatable member, a first control unit for feedback-controlling electric power to be supplied to the temperature raising unit based on the temperature detected by the temperature detecting unit, a setting unit for variably setting a set value corresponding to electric power to be supplied to the temperature raising unit, based on a temperature rise speed detected by the temperature detecting unit when a predetermined amount of electric power is supplied, and a second control unit for temporally supplying electric power corresponding to the set value set by the setting unit to the temperature raising unit in timing close to timing in which the temperature detected by the temperature detecting unit reaches a target temperature, or timing close to timing in which the recording material rushes in the pressure contact portion when the fixing apparatus is started up.

摘要： In a fixing apparatus using a fixing belt having an elastic layer as a fixing member and an image forming apparatus mounting such a fixing apparatus thereto, before a temperature detecting unit detects temperature change caused upon recording material conveying into a nip region, an electric power required to be applied to a heating element to heat the heating element is corrected to a predetermined electric power, and, when the fixing apparatus is started-up upon starting of print, at a predetermined timing, the electric power required to be applied to the heating element to heat the heating element is corrected to the predetermined electric power and a value of the predetermined electric power is substantially the same as an electric power value required for reaching the fixing apparatus to the predetermined power. The value of the predetermined power is determined in accordance with heat capacity of the recording material or a heat accumulating degree of the fixing apparatus on demand.

摘要： A charge member charges secondary transfer remaining toner on an intermediate transfer member to a polarity opposite to a normal charge polarity. The remaining toner is moved by a transfer bias, from the intermediate transfer member onto an image bearing member. A BK station is arranged on the downstream of other stations. In a continuous BK monochromatic mode, by applying a reverse bias to transfer portions of the other stations and applying the transfer bias only to the BK station, remaining toner can be collected into the BK station (simultaneously with the transfer). In a full-color mode, remaining toner is collected into the station on the uppermost stream. Thus, the image bearing member for collecting remaining toner on the intermediate transfer member differs according to the mode, thereby suppressing the collection of remaining toner being concentrated on one image bearing member.

When the charging member cleaning mode is executed, the charging member is moved at least once from a belt separation position or away from a belt contact position.
