    摘要: A photocatalytic titanium dioxide coating composition is described, which comprises (a) finely-divided titanium dioxide particles exhibiting photocatalytic activity, (b) particles of an inorganic compound other than titanium dioxide, or particles of an organic compound convertible to particles of an inorganic compound on firing, (c) a binder, and (d) a solvent. The articles of an inorganic compound have an average particle diameter larger than that of the finely divided titanium dioxide particles and falls within the range of about 0.1 &mgr;m to about 1.0 &mgr;m. The inorganic compound particles are substantially insoluble in the solvent. The amount of the inorganic compound particles is in the range of about 0.5% to about 7% by weight based on the weight of the finely divided titanium dioxide particles. By coating a surface of a substrate with the coating composition, a coating film exhibiting excellent photocatalytic activity and no interference color is formed.

    摘要: A food container on which surface titanium oxide particles are fixed, where titanium oxide particles may contain brookite crystals, the material of which the food container is constructed may be stainless steel, and the titanium oxide particles may be bonded using a sintering aid, a binder or both. When the food container is made of glass, satisfactory mechanical strength of the container can be maintained even when the thickness of a wall of the container is reduced. Since titanium oxide particles can be fixed onto a surface of a food container at a temperature as low as 20 to 450° C. by use of a sintering aid, a binder or both thermal deformation of glass forming the food container can be prevented.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, a charging mechanism to charge a surface of the image carrier, an electrostatic latent image forming mechanism to form an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the image carrier, a developing mechanism to develop the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the image carrier into a toner image, a transfer mechanism to transfer the toner image on the surface of the image carrier to a transfer body, and a cleaning mechanism including a cleaning blade to clean a transfer residue toner adhering to the surface of the image carrier by contacting the surface of the image carrier. The cleaning blade includes a strip shaped elastic blade and a surface layer formed on an opposing surface of the strip shaped elastic blade opposite the surface of the image carrier.

A value obtained by normalizing a peak area ratio SA/SB of a modified portion with a peak area ratio SA′/SB′ of a portion outside the modified layer is 1.5 or more and 10 or less where SA is a peak area value at 1162 cm−1 and SB is a peak area value at 1533 cm−1 obtained by infrared microspectrometry, and the modified portion is a region that extends 100 μm in a contact portion thickness inward direction from the contact portion on a plane that lies at an equal distance from two surfaces constituting the contact portion.
