摘要： A self-extinguishing circuit interrupter wherein a pair of separable contacts is disposed within an arc extinguishing gas. Energy of an electric arc established between the separated contacts is utilized to increase the pressure of the arc extinguishing gas, and the high pressure gas thus generated is introduced into a pressure chamber to be stored therein. When the arc current approaches zero, the high pressure gas within the pressure chamber is puffed to the arc to extinguish it. A plurality of pressure chambers are axially disposed, i.e., in the direction in which the movable contact moves, thereby improving the arc extinguishing capability of the circuit interrupter.

摘要： A circuit interrupter comprises a pair of contacts in a container filled with a gas for extinction; an insulation nozzle around the contacts to form an arc chamber; a gas chamber which is connected to the arc chamber under departing the contacts. The gas pressure in the arc chamber and the gas chamber is increased by the energy of the arc generated at the departing the contacts. When the arc current is large, the flow-out of the gas from the arc chamber and the gas chamber is decreased by the arc whereas the high pressure gas in the arc chamber and the gas chamber is discharged through the insulation nozzle into the container at the time decreasing the arc current near zero whereby the arc is interrupted by the gas flow discharged.

The pressure chamber includes a separation chamber including a guide member or a check valve for supplying a high pressure fluid derived from an electric arc generated between the contacts to the pressure chamber. The high pressure fluid supplied from the high pressure chamber extinguishes the arc between the contacts. The guide member or the separation chambers alleviate mixing of the hot high pressure fluid with the cold high pressure fluid in the pressure chamber, providing the circuit interrupter with an improved arc extinguishing capability.

摘要： A circuit interrupter comprising a first and a second chamber both containng an arc extinguishing gas such as SF.sub.6 gas, each chamber defining a space independent of the other when a pair of contacts is closed. Between the first and second chambers a movable piston member is disposed for transmitting a pressure from the first chamber to the second chamber. When the arc extinguishing fluid in the first chamber is pressure-raised by the energy of an electric arc established between the contacts at their initial separation stage, the movable piston member is moved to compress the arc extinguishing fluid within second chamber. The arc extinguishing fluid thus compressed is puffed at the electric arc to extinguish it.

摘要： An improved self-extinguishing puffer-type circuit interrupter comprising a casing filled with an arc extinguishing gas such as SF.sub.6 gas and including a pair of separable contacts, wherein the arc extinguishing fluid is pressure-raised by the energy of an electric arc, established upon the separation of the contacts, to be puffed to the arc to extinguish it. The interrupter includes means for releasing the arc extinguishing gas to the exterior of the extinguishing chamber when the pressure within the pressure-raising chamber in which the gas is pressurized by the arc energy reaches a certain value. The interrupter may include a valve, disposed between the pressure-raising chamber and the arc extinguishing chamber, adapted to open only when the pressure in the pressure-raising chamber is less than that above-mentioned certain pressure value.
