摘要: A circuit breaker including an ejection device with a compartment, in which an arc-extinction medium for improving circuit breaker operation is contained, and having an ejection orifice through which the arc-extinction medium is to be ejected, wherein the ejection orifice opens out into an injection zone of the circuit breaker in which the pressure is lower than in an arcing zone when an arc is present, and wherein the arc-extinction medium and/or exhaust-cooling medium is at least partially present in liquid form, when it is contained in the ejection device.

摘要: An outer arc extinguishing compartment is disposed coaxially with an inner arc extinguishing compartment and partly projects under one end thereof. A movable contact member extends through both compartments and separably engages a stationary contact member located within the inner compartment. A plurality of arc suppressors of spindle-shaped cross section are disposed at equal angular intervals in the projecting portion of the outer compartment adjacent to and about the movable contact member to extend axially and radially of the latter. The circumferential minimum distance between the arc suppressors is smaller than the diameter of a positive column of an electric arc struck across both contact members.

摘要: To improve an interruption process, a switching chamber for a gas-insulated circuit breaker comprises a thermal channel having a bend part delimited by an outer surface of an auxiliary insulating nozzle including a first bend section on a thermal volume side, a third bend section on an arcing region side, and a second bend section connecting the first bend section to the third bend section, and by an inner surface of a main insulating nozzle including a fourth bend section on a thermal volume side, a sixth bend section on an arcing region side, and a fifth bend section connecting the fourth bend section to the sixth bend section, such that in axial section view, the first to sixth bend sections form 30 degrees arcs of circles having respective radii R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 such that R1>R2>R3 and R4>R5>R6.

摘要: A circuit interrupter comprising a first and a second chamber both containng an arc extinguishing gas such as SF.sub.6 gas, each chamber defining a space independent of the other when a pair of contacts is closed. Between the first and second chambers a movable piston member is disposed for transmitting a pressure from the first chamber to the second chamber. When the arc extinguishing fluid in the first chamber is pressure-raised by the energy of an electric arc established between the contacts at their initial separation stage, the movable piston member is moved to compress the arc extinguishing fluid within second chamber. The arc extinguishing fluid thus compressed is puffed at the electric arc to extinguish it.

摘要: An improved method for quenching an arc in an AC circuit breaker having an arc chamber in which the arc rotates in a quenching medium between open electrodes having ends close together in which the arc is caused to generate during its rotation, through a heating of the quenching medium, an over-pressure which is maintained beyond the zero crossing of the AC current with the gas flow produced by the over-pressure use for blasting the arc in the nozzle. Various embodiments for use in medium and high voltage switching installations which permit the switching of large currents with a simple and inexpensive arrangement are illustrated.

摘要: A self-blast electric interrupter device, such as a circuit breaker or a disconnector, the device comprising: a first contact and a second contact that are movable between a closed position in which they press against each other, and an open position in which they are spaced apart from each other; and an arc-control chamber surrounding the two contacts in order to define a space that is closed in the closed position. At least one of the contacts includes a central channel opening out towards the other contact in order to enable gas coming from the arc-control chamber during an opening stage to be discharged. According to the invention, the other contact carries an insulating member that ablates under the effect of an electric arc forming in the arc-control chamber in order to give rise to a large and fast increase of pressure within the chamber.
