    摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling an occupant restraint apparatus are provided which allow the force applied to a nearby occupant to be optimized in response to collision conditions. In one form, a method for controlling an occupant restraint apparatus includes detecting an obstacle in a travelling direction of a vehicle that may potentially collide with the vehicle; predicting a type of collision between the obstacle detected and the vehicle; setting conditions for expanding an airbag of the vehicle based on the collision type predicted; and controlling the expansion of the airbag and/or gas discharge from the airbag according to the conditions set at the setting step. Detecting the obstacle preferably includes detecting the position and relative speed of the obstacle with respect to the vehicle based on images of views in the travelling direction of the vehicle.

    摘要: An airbag to be inflated by gas for a vehicle includes a base member for the airbag, an opening and closing vent provided in the base member, and a discharging gas control member for restraining gas from discharging from the opening and closing vent. The discharging gas control member closes or slightly opens the opening and closing vent when an occupant does not contact a front surface of the airbag facing the occupant when the airbag is inflated. The discharging gas control member opens or widely opens the opening and closing vent so as to allow the gas to be discharged from the opening and closing vent when the occupant contacts the front surface of the airbag, and the front surface is pushed in a direction opposite to the occupant.

The outline of the inner panel 4 between the outer peripheral seamed portions when the inner panel is deployed in a plane is formed into a shape following a straight line connecting the outer peripheral seamed portions.

A covering member (20) covers an openable-closable vent hole (11) from the outside of an airbag (10). An upper tether (30) routed through an upper constantly open vent hole (12) and in the inside of the airbag (10) connects the covering member and a near-passenger face (10f) of the airbag (10). A lower tether (31) routed through a lower constantly open vent hole (13) and in the inside of the airbag (10) connects the covering member and a lower portion (10b) of the airbag (10). When a passenger comes into contact with the near-passenger face (10f) of the airbag (10), the upper tether (30) loosens and the covering member (20) is turned up, whereby the openable-closable vent hole (11) opens.     摘要: An airbag includes an inner panel for partitioning an interior of the airbag into a first chamber and a second chamber surrounding the first chamber. The inner panel has at least one communication port for communication between the first chamber and the second chamber. In an airbag uninflated state in which the inner panel and the rear panel are flatly deployed, at least part of the communication port is located within a range of 35 to 150 mm in radius from the center of a gas generator insertion port. Gas discharged from a gas discharge port is supplied to the second chamber via the communication port. Inflation of the second chamber, therefore, is accomplished in the early stage of the airbag deployment.
