摘要: A pourable opaque centerport for solid propellant rocket motors and method for applying the same are disclosed. The pourable centerport inhibitor for solid propellant rocket motors has a curing system that includes a prepolymer and a curing agent. The prepolymer and the curing agent are combined to form a pourable polymeric binder that cures into an amorphous solid. The pourable centerport inhibitor also includes an opaque agent. The pourable centerport inhibitor may also include a plasticizer. The plasticizer, the prepolymer, and the curing agent are preferably the same type that is in the solid propellant with which it will be used in conjunction.

摘要: A composite structure includes a matrix material having an intrinsic strain-to-failure rating in tension and a reinforcing material embedded in the bulk material. The reinforcing material is pre-stressed by a tensile force acting along one direction. The embedded reinforcing material interacts with the matrix material to place the composite structure into a compressive state. The compressive state provides an increased strain-to-failure rating in tension of the composite structure along a direction that is greater than the intrinsic strain-to-failure rating in tension of the matrix material along that direction. At least one of the matrix material and the reinforcing material is a bulk amorphous alloy (BAA). The reinforcing material can be a fiber or wire. In various embodiments, the matrix material may be a bulk amorphous alloy and/or the reinforcing material may be a bulk amorphous alloy.

摘要: The present invention relates to reflective articles, such as solar mirrors, that include a sacrificial cathodic layer. The reflective article, more particularly includes a substrate, such as glass, having a multi-layered coating thereon that includes a lead-free sacrificial cathodic layer. The sacrificial cathodic layer includes at least one transition metal, such as a particulate transition metal, which can be in the form of flakes (e.g., zinc flakes). The sacrificial cathodic layer can include an inorganic matrix formed from one or more organo-titanates. Alternatively, the sacrificial cathodic layer can include an organic polymer matrix (e.g., a crosslinked organic polymer matrix formed from an organic polymer and an aminoplast crosslinking agent). The reflective article also includes an outer organic polymer coating, that can be electrodeposited over the sacrificial cathodic layer.
