摘要: A kit for repairing and/or replacing a mitral valve includes a mitral valve prosthesis and a loop-shaped element with a proximal end, a distal end, and a curved body. A proximal portion of the curved body is sized for positioning on an atrial side of the mitral valve and a distal portion of the curved body is sized for positioning on a ventricular side of the mitral valve. The distal portion has a first curved region with a radius of curvature that is larger than the radius of curvature of a second curved region so that the distal portion passes between heart muscle wall and chordae and circumflex the chordae of the mitral valve when the distal portion is rotated into place at the ventricular side of the native mitral valve.

摘要: A medical securing device for securing an object with a securing member into a tissue comprises an elongated sheath with proximal and distal ends, and a securing member introduction device having proximal and distal ends. The securing member comprises first and second ends. The distal end of the securing member introduction device is configured to extend the second end of the securing member from the sheath and introduce it to or through the tissue via an introduction movement so to secure the portion of the securing member to the object and/or to the tissue. This is advantageously configured to happen without extending the securing member introduction device through the tissue whereupon no extra hole is made to the tissue by the securing member introduction device.

摘要: A device for improving the function of a heart valve comprises: a support member formed from a shape memory material, and a restraining member providing a restraining action on a course of the support member. The support member may abut one side of the valve conforming to the shape of the valve annulus upon said shape memory material assuming an activated shape while the restraining member restrains the course of the support member. The restraining action is removable for allowing the support member to assume a desired, altered course. The restraining member may be biodegradable to be degraded within a patient or may be detachable from the support member to be withdrawn. The support member according to another embodiment presents a shape change in that an increased cross-section is associated with a shortened length of the support member. The support member according to yet another embodiment has a first and a second activated shape.
