摘要: Switching between and/or combining various multi-transceiver wireless communication techniques based on a determined characteristic of a network or a wireless link is described herein. As an example, a characteristic such as signal to noise ratio (SNR), multi-path scattering, available bandwidth, or the like, can be determined. The characteristic can then be compared with suitable thresholds for various multi-transceiver communication techniques, such as MIMO, multi-channel concatenation, channel diversity, and so on. Based on a comparison of the characteristic and the thresholds, a suitable multi-transceiver technique can be selected and implemented for the wireless link Accordingly, a network can provide increased data rates and/or channel quality from a multi-transceiver technique that is most suited to prevailing conditions of the wireless network/link.

摘要: A base station for providing flexible data rate transmission in a telecommunications system. The base station comprises an interface coupled to a signal processor coupled to a transmitter. The interface receives an incoming data stream. The signal processor receives the incoming data stream from the receiver and selects an operating downlink chip rate from at least two chip rates. The signal processor selects a spreading factor and spreads the incoming data stream into a spread data stream with a channelization code. The transmitter, receives the spread data stream from the signal processor and transmits the spread data stream over an air interface.

摘要: A system and method for recharging secondary batteries. One embodiment of the present invention comprises a supervisory circuit, a voltage converter, a portable power source, and one or more of a holder and a socket. The holder is adapted to receive a specific type of secondary battery of a portable device. The socket is adapted to mate with a plug of a device-specific charging cord connected to the portable device. Each of the holder and the plug can be associated with a programming resistor that provides a voltage requirement of the secondary battery. When the secondary battery is either placed in the holder or is connected to the socket, the supervisory circuit communicates with the voltage converter to supply the appropriate voltage required to recharge the secondary battery. The voltage converter receives power from the portable power source. The voltage converter can convert the voltage of the portable power source up (i.e., increasing the voltage) or down (i.e., decreasing the voltage) as appropriate to recharge the secondary battery as instructed by the supervisory circuit. The portable power source of the portable battery recharge station can be one of several types of power sources. For example, the portable power source can be replaceable, rechargeable, or renewable.

摘要: A base station system for dynamically allocating channels to an incoming data stream. The base station system comprises an input for receiving the incoming data stream and a processor for receiving the incoming data stream from the input. The processor is operable to determine a desired level of service for the incoming data stream; dynamically assign a plurality of channels to the incoming data stream; segment the incoming data stream into a plurality of segments based on the number of channels dynamically assigned; and provide a parallel stream of the segmented data stream to a plurality of respective coders for coding the respective segments of the data stream.
