摘要： Disclosed herein is a golf ball utilizing a core that comprises at least two particular types of polybutadiene. In one aspect, a combination of a polybutadiene obtained from a cobalt catalyst is used in conjunction with a polybutadiene obtained from a neodymium catalyst. Also disclosed are golf balls comprising particular cover compositions. In one aspect, a cover composition is disclosed that includes a sodium ionomer, a magnesium ionomer, and a zinc ionomer. The golf balls exhibit improved distance while providing a soft sound and feel.

A wide array of ionomeric materials are noted for use in the various cover layers. The mantle and the outer cover layers exhibit different Shore D hardness values and at least one of the layers includes a heavy weight filler material to enhance the interior perimeter weight of the ball. In several particular versions of the golf balls, the filler material is present in an amount of at least 10% by weight based upon the weight of the layer or layers within which the filler material is incorporated.

摘要： The present invention is directed to improved regulation multi-layer golf balls. A smaller and lighter core is produced and metal particles, or other heavy weight filler materials, are included in the cover compositions. The resulting molded golf ball exhibits enhanced interior perimeter weighting. Preferably, the particles are included in a relatively thick inner cover layer (or mantle) of a solid, three-piece multi-layered golf ball. The size and weight of the core is reduced in order to produce an overall golf ball which meets, or is less than, the 1.62 ounce maximum weight limitation specified by the United States Golf Association. The combination of the present invention produces a golf ball with an increased moment of inertia and/or a greater radius of gyration and thus generates lower spin. This results in a golf ball exhibiting enhanced distance without substantially effecting the feel and durability characteristics of the ball.

摘要： The present invention is directed to improved golf ball compositions in which the balls have low spin and excellent distance. The balls contain tungsten or another high density filler in a solid, central core in order to enhance coefficient of restitution, and have very high quantities of whitening agent in the outer cover layer to increase the moment of inertia and thus reduce spin. This results in a golf ball exhibiting enhanced distance while maintaining good durability. In a preferred version of the present invention, a golf ball is provided that comprises a core and a dimpled cover disposed about the core. The core includes a rubber and 0.1 to 40 parts by weight of a filler material having a specific gravity of at least 7. The cover includes a resin and at least 2.5 parts by weight of a particular whitening agent.

摘要： The present invention is directed to improved polybutadiene compositions suitable for use in molded golf ball core construction. The improved polybutadiene compositions are composed of one or more certain types of polybutadiene, which has the effect of increasing the resiliency of the resulting molded cores and greatly facilitates processing of the compositions and forming the cores. Also disclosed are improved golf ball cores, and balls utilizing such cores, formed from particular ultra high Mooney viscosity polybutadiene. In another aspect, golf balls having particular cover compositions are disclosed. Such cover compositions include at least one sodium ionomer and at least one zinc ionomer. Also disclosed are golf balls having a mechanical impedance with a primary minimum value in a frequency range of 3100 Hz or less after the ball has been maintained at 21.1° C., 1 atm. and about 50% relative humidity for at least 15 hours. The balls of the invention have good distance while providing a soft sound and feel.
