    摘要: Normalizing a measure of the level of current interest of an item that is based on indications of interest received from one or more users of a network via which the item is accessible is disclosed. In one embodiment, an intensity value is determined for each successive indication of interest received with respect to an item. At the time each successive indication of interest with respect to the item is received, an intensity rank based at least in part on the intensity value of the received indication is calculated. The calculated intensity rank is multiplied by a normalization factor to determine a normalized intensity rank.

    摘要: An interactive video display system with tight coupling between user-input and the images displayed to provide a feeling of real control by the user. A library of frames of video data is stored in randomly accessible data locations, such as an optical video disc. The video data in each frame in the library is assigned a virtual position in a pre-defined data space, such that the visual image in each frame is related to visual images in other frames by virtual position in the data space. User input is provided through track ball or mouse generating displacement signals. The input signal is translated to an updated virtual position in the data space relative to a previous virtual position and the next frame having the updated virtual position is displayed next.

    摘要: A camera may include a lens, an image sensor, an image detection system, a controllable light source, and a light source control system. The image detection system may be configured to generate electronic information representative of images generated by the lens by detecting sequential images sensed by the image sensor. The detecting may not be done during certain periods of time. The controllable light source may be behind the lens and configured to controllably project light through the lens and back onto a scene in front of the lens. While in at least one mode, the light source control system may be configured to activate the controllable light source only while the image detection system is not detecting an image from the image sensor. The light source control system may be configured to activate the controllable light source and to cause it to emit light at an intensity which is sufficient to be readily visible to a normal human looking at the lens while within the scene, but not sufficient to materially alter the electronic information generated by the image detection system.

    摘要: The invention causes a panoramic view to be realistically displayed to a viewing audience. A fixed display device displays a portion of the panoramic view and a rotating support structure supports the viewing audience. The orientation of the portion of the panoramic view shown by the display device changes in coordination with the rotation of the support structure, while the viewing audience changes its viewing direction to continue looking at the display device. The characteristics of the system (in particular, the rotation of the support structure) are controlled so that the viewing audience is not conscious of the movement of the support structure, but thinks, instead, that the display device (and the displayed portion of the panoramic view) is moving about the support structure as the viewing audience changes its viewing direction. The invention can be implemented as a non-interactive system in which the system operates independently of the viewing audience. Alternatively, the invention can be implemented as an interactive system in which the orientation of the displayed portion of the panoramic view and the position of the support structure rotate in response to viewer input. The interactive system can be implemented either as a direct control system or a feedback control system.

    摘要: The present disclosure provides techniques that can enable a community of users to upload arbitrary images of particular locations and integrate them into a 3D model of that location in such a way that they appear as correctly aligned overlays with the model. Users can estimate rough location, orientation, and field of view, for one or more images and then add metadata such as keyword “tags” including time parameters. From the user estimates, a computer system determines the pose of the image relative to the 3D model and stores the metadata. A display system enables a community of users to freely navigate through the 3D model with visual indicators of all of the posed images, filterable via the metadata. Users also have control over a “snap-to-view” feature as they approach any of the posed images as well as a transparency feature for the degree of visibility of the overlaid image.
