摘要: The present invention includes methods and apparatus for testing tire performance using a laterally-contoured road wheel. Accordingly, particular embodiments of the machine include a wheel configured to rotate, the wheel having a tire operating surface configured to engage a tire during operation, the outer tire operating surface arranged along an annular side of the wheel and having a width extending laterally relative a circumferential direction of the wheel along a contoured path. The machine may further include a drive source configured to rotate the wheel and a tire mount configured to rotatably maintain a tire. The present invention also includes methods of forming a laterally-contoured tire operating surface for a road wheel.

摘要: The present invention provides spoke geometry for a non-pneumatic tire that is less prone to fatigue when used. In particular, the spoke geometry is provided with an optimized thickness profile over the length of the spoke. This optimization results in a reduction in the peak strain energy density levels in the spoke, thereby reducing the likelihood of crack initiation and propagation which in turn enhances the durability of the spoke and tire.

摘要: A tire comprises at least a left tread portion, a right tread portion, wherein the left tread portion and the right tread portion are axially separated by a longitudinally oriented groove. A tread reinforcement comprises a plurality of tread reinforcing layers wherein the reinforcement elements are formed of parallel reinforcements arranged in opposing layers, and each of the opposing layers has a bias angle relative to the circumferential direction. The bias angles of the reinforcement elements in each of the tread reinforcing layers corresponds to a plurality of equilibrium membrane shapes determined from membrane equilibrium equations that are joined together to create a continuous, complex shape.
