摘要: The present invention provides spoke geometry for a non-pneumatic tire that is less prone to fatigue when used. In particular, the spoke geometry is provided with an optimized thickness profile over the length of the spoke. This optimization results in a reduction in the peak strain energy density levels in the spoke, thereby reducing the likelihood of crack initiation and propagation which in turn enhances the durability of the spoke and tire.

摘要: The present invention includes methods and apparatus for testing tire performance using a laterally-contoured road wheel. Accordingly, particular embodiments of the machine include a wheel configured to rotate, the wheel having a tire operating surface configured to engage a tire during operation, the outer tire operating surface arranged along an annular side of the wheel and having a width extending laterally relative a circumferential direction of the wheel along a contoured path. The machine may further include a drive source configured to rotate the wheel and a tire mount configured to rotatably maintain a tire. The present invention also includes methods of forming a laterally-contoured tire operating surface for a road wheel.

摘要: A shear band that may be used e.g., in a non-pneumatic tire is provided. The shear band uses interlaced reinforcing elements positioned within a shear layer of elastomeric material. A variety of configurations may be used to create the interlaced positioning of the reinforcing elements including e.g., a horizontal diamond or vertical diamond configuration. The shear layer formed from a rubber composition having a very low hysteresis reinforced with silica.

摘要: Non-pneumatic wheel (1) with an annular reinforcing structure (10) produced from at least one elastomer compound, arranged radially on the inside of a tread (7), the structure (10) having a plurality of reinforcing strips (12, 14) arranged in layers, the strips (12, 14) of each of the layers being arranged in juxtaposition in a substantially circumferential direction, the strips being coated with an elastomer composition (13), the structure (10) made of at least three layers of strips (12, 14), wherein the strips are formed of a laminate of at least two composite layers, each composite layer has fibres coated in a polymer matrix, the fibres making an angle α with the circumferential direction, the difference in values of the said angles from one layer to the next being approximately 90°.

摘要: A non-pneumatic wheel includes an outer band, a hub and a plurality of spokes formed from a polyamine material. Each of the plurality of spokes is displaced to create pretension in the radial direction under a design load and the displacement is equal to or greater than the predetermined deflection of the outer band. The plurality of spokes is made from a polyamide material having a conditioned tensile modulus between 600 MPa and 3000 MPa, an equilibrium moisture content of no more than 1.5%, and a fatigue failure resistance that can withstand at least 1 million cycles.
