摘要: A surfacing material that is capable of ultraviolet (UV) protection and self-releasing from a mold surface. The surfacing material is a multilayer structure composed of a curable resin layer laminated to a self-releasing layer. The surfacing material is designed to be co-cured with a composite substrate, for example, a prepreg layup. After co-curing, the composite part surfaced with the surfacing material is releasable from the mold surface with ease. The self-releasing layer functions as a UV blocking layer until the cured composite substrate is ready for painting. When the self-releasing layer removed, a paint-ready surface is revealed. Such surface does not require any surface preparation prior to painting.

摘要: A structural reinforcement for an article including a carrier that includes: (i) a mass of polymeric material having an outer surface; and (ii) at least one consolidated fibrous insert having an outer surface and including at least one elongated fiber arrangement having a plurality of ordered fibers arranged in a predetermined manner. The fibrous insert is envisioned to adjoin the mass of the polymeric material in a predetermined location for carrying a predetermined load that is subjected upon the predetermined location (thereby effectively providing localized reinforcement to that predetermined location). The fibrous insert and the mass of polymeric material are of compatible materials, structures or both, for allowing the fibrous insert to be at least partially joined to the mass of the polymeric material. Disposed upon at least a portion of the carrier will be a mass of activatable material.

摘要: The disclosure provides a method for forming a core layer for a plurality of information carrying cards, a resulting core layer, and a resulting information carrying card. A first portion of a crosslinkable polymer composition is dispensed onto the first thermoplastic layer. A second thermoplastic layer having a plurality of through-holes therein is then applied. A second portion of the crosslinkable polymer composition is dispensed into each through-hole. An inlay layer is placed over the polymer composition inside each through-hole. A third portion of the crosslinkable polymer composition is dispensed over each inlay layer. A third thermoplastic layer or a release film is placed over the third portion of the crosslinkable polymer composition to provide a layered structure. Each respective inlay layer is configured to be movable and/or self-center inside each through-hole in the presence of the crosslinkable polymer composition when the layered structure is pressed on a pressure.

摘要: A permeable LSP material that can be incorporated into a resin infusion process such as RTM and VaRTM. This permeable LSP material may be in the form of an elongated or continuous tape that can be used in an automated placement process such as ATL and AFP. In one embodiment, the permeable LSP material includes at least the following components: (a) a nonwoven veil of randomly arranged fibers; (b) a porous electrically conductive layer having openings through its thickness; and (c) a resin material distributed, in a non-continuous manner, throughout the nonwoven veil 11 and between the nonwoven veil and the porous conductive layer. The permeable LSP material can be brought into contact with a dry preform, followed by resin infusion and curing to form a hardened composite part having the LSP material integrated therein.

摘要: An epoxy resin composition, a transparent composite material including the same, and a laminated board. The epoxy resin composition includes an epoxy resin A and an epoxy resin B. The refractive index of the epoxy resin A is 1.54-1.8 and the light transmittance of the epoxy resin A is 90%. The refractive index of the epoxy resin B is 1.54-1.8 and the light transmittance of the epoxy resin B is greater than 90%. The epoxy resin A is an organosilicon modified epoxy resin. The epoxy resin B is another type of epoxy resin. The organosilicon modified epoxy resin satisfying a specific condition and another type of epoxy resin also satisfying the specific condition are combined to form a specific epoxy resin composition. The composite material prepared from the epoxy resin composition, a curing agent, and a curing accelerator has the advantages of having high light transmittance and high bending strength, and also has high bonding strength.

A slope of a tangent of a spectrum of a spectral transmittance, defined as an absolute value, of the colored layer at the wavelength of 620 nm is 0.02 nm−1 or more and 0.06 nm−1 or less, the spectral transmittance being obtainable by dividing a spectral reflectance measured for the colored layer stacked on the lustrous layer at the light receiving angle of 15° in the case of the light incident angle of 45°, by a spectral reflectance measured for the lustrous layer from which the colored layer is removed and a surface of which is therefore exposed, at the light receiving angle of 15° in the case of the light incident angle of 45°.

摘要: In a preferred embodiment, a composite panel with a smooth outer surface, ready for painting with or without addition of primer, may be created by constructing a panel layup assembly upon a mold, the panel layup assembly including a composite panel having a core and a resin formulation, and a release film between the mold and the composite panel, where a smooth release surface of the release film is in contact with the composite panel upon construction; initiating curing of the composite panel at a first temperature within a lowermost ten percent of a curing temperature range of the resin formulation; continuing curing of the composite panel at a second temperature above the lowermost ten percent of the curing temperature range; and completing curing of the composite panel at a third temperature below the second temperature.
