摘要: A non-pneumatic tire includes a generally annular inner ring that attaches to a wheel, a generally annular outer ring, and an interconnected web between the generally annular inner ring and the generally annular outer ring. The interconnected web defines a plurality of openings circumferentially spaced around the tire and radially spaced at varying distances from an axis of rotation, so as to support a load by working in tension. The interconnected web includes a plurality of web elements having a varying thickness, including a first plurality of web elements above the axis of rotation and a second plurality of web elements below the axis of rotation. The varying thickness is configured to facilitate buckling of the interconnected web. When a load is applied, the first plurality of web elements are subjected to a tensile force while the second plurality of web elements buckle.

摘要: Methods of forming a tire 4 directly on a wheel in which the wheel has a conduit which runs between its hub and rim. A mold is placed over the wheel in order to form a cavity between an inner surface of the mold and the wheel's rim. Liquid materials to form the tire 4 are injected into the cavity via the conduit and the wheel spun to distribute the materials throughout the cavity, which materials solidify to form the tire 4 attached to the wheel. The method includes the step of placing a hub cap 6 over a face of the wheel prior to placing the mold and sealing the hub cap 6 to the wheel during the molding process. The tire 4 may have a substantially hollow interior 50 which may include a flexible web 18 sealed within the rim of the wheel by the hub cap 6.

摘要: In accordance with presently disclosed embodiments, a tire monitoring system is provided. The tire monitoring system utilizes a heat sensor embedded in a solid rubber tire. The heat sensor detects a temperature of the solid tire, and a transmission system transmits signals indicative of the temperature from the heat sensor to a remote monitoring system. The remote monitoring system may monitor the temperature of the solid tire and output notifications to alert a user when preventive maintenance is needed. The heat sensor may be embedded in the solid rubber tire during the manufacture of the solid tire, or the heat sensor may be embedded into the solid tire after production of the tire is complete. The system may be used track cure time and temperature as the tire is being produced and/or to log tire performance information throughout the operation of the tire.

摘要: The present invention provides an annular beam of monolithic construction of one homogeneous material and a related efficient, low-cost non-pneumatic tire. Specific geometric design, combined with nonlinear elastomer physical properties, enable the suppression of all reinforcing belts, continuous fibers, or other strengthening layers in the annular beam. The annular beam consists of at least two bands that are continuous in the circumferential direction and connected by a web geometry. The non-pneumatic tire consists of the annular beam, a ground contacting portion, a central wheel, and a plurality of web spokes that connect the wheel and beam. When the tire is loaded to a design load against a flat surface over a design contact length, a contact area of essentially uniform pressure is produced, while the load is transmitted from the beam to the hub via tension in the web spokes. The tire can be economically manufactured.
