    摘要: A liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes a liquid crystal panel (20) having an area sensor function of detecting the position of an input from an outside source by detecting an image on a panel surface. The liquid crystal panel (20) (position detecting section), provided with visible light sensors (31A) each containing light sensor elements (30) that detect the intensity of received visible light and infrared light sensors (31B) each containing light sensor elements (30) that detect the intensity of received infrared light, which detects an input position by the visible light sensors (31A) and the infrared light sensors (31B) separately detecting an image on the detector surface. The liquid crystal display device further includes a backlight (light-emitting section) for irradiating the liquid crystal panel (20) with light containing infrared light. This achieves an area sensor capable of accurate position detection in a wide range of environmental illuminances and a liquid crystal display device equipped with such an area sensor.

    摘要: A liquid crystal panel (20) provided in a liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes a plurality of optical sensor elements (30) each for detecting an intensity of light received, and has an area sensor function to detect an external input position by causing each of the optical sensor elements (30) to detect an image on the panel surface. The liquid crystal panel (20) includes the optical sensor elements (30) constituting an area sensor and a temperature compensating sensor (50) for carrying out temperature compensation of each of these optical sensor elements (30). The temperature compensating sensor (50) includes a lower-layer light blocking film, optical sensor elements (30A) each for detecting a temperature of an environment where the liquid crystal display device is placed which optical sensor elements (30A) are provided on the lower-layer light blocking film, and an upper-layer light blocking film which is provided so as to cover the optical sensor elements for detecting a temperature which upper-layer light blocking film blocks ultraviolet light, visible light, and infrared light. This makes it possible to attain a liquid crystal display device including an area sensor that does not receive an influence of a temperature of an environment where the liquid crystal display device is used and accordingly has a high detection precision.

This allows some of the light sensor elements to be used as a light intensity sensor to more accurately measure light intensity.

    摘要: A coordinate sensor (10) includes at least two line sensors (1) that are disposed in x-axis and y-axis directions, and right-angle prisms (2) each of which changes a light path of light that has passed through an image display region of a liquid crystal panel (20). Each of the line sensors (1) is disposed outside the image display region and has a light-receiving surface (1a) parallel to an image display surface of the liquid crystal panel (20). The right angle prisms (2) cause light which travels in the x-axis and y-axis directions and which has passed through the image display region to be guided to the light-receiving surfaces (1a) of the line sensors (1). The coordinate sensor (10) receives the light which has thus passed through the image display region of the liquid crystal panel (20) so as to detect a coordinate, on the image display region, that is indicated by an object to be detected such as a finger. Consequently, a thin coordinate sensor that enables easy alignment with no reduction in aperture ratio and no restriction on operation speed can be realized at low cost.

    摘要: Disclosed is a display device in which deterioration in resolution may be suppressed when an image is being read, by reducing the diffusion of reflected light from a printed material, and in which a wide viewing angle may be achieved when an image is being displayed. The display device is provided with a display panel for reading and displaying image data. The display panel has a plurality of pixels provided with light receiving elements. A plate-shaped lens member is arranged on the display surface side of the display panel. A transparent section formed of material having a high refractive index and a colored section formed of material having a low refractive index are arranged alternately in the lens member when seen in plan view. In the cross section in the thickness direction, the transparent section has a trapezoidal shape which is wider on the display panel side, and the colored section has a shape which is narrower on the display panel side.

    摘要: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device (1) that is provided with a function of identifying the position of a subject to be detected (finger) in an image display region (12b) of a liquid crystal panel (10) by emitting light to the image display region (12b) and by detecting light reflected by the subject to be detected (finger). The liquid crystal display device is provided with a backlight (30) and a front light-emitting unit (40), which radiate light to the image display region (12b). The backlight (30) is disposed on the side of the liquid crystal panel (10) opposite to the image display surface (10a), and emits light to the image display region (12b) from the rear side of the liquid crystal panel (10). The front light-emitting unit (40) is disposed outside of the image display region (12b), and emits light to the image display region (12b) without having the liquid crystal panel (10) therebetween. With such a configuration, even when the subject to be detected and the display panel are apart from each other, the position of the subject to be detected can be accurately identified.
