    摘要： A magnetic head slider assembly for a magnetic disk type recording/reproducing apparatus includes a slider body, a sliding pad provided on the slider body and projecting beyond a disk facing surface thereof, a thin film layer disposed at one end of the slider body, a magnetic head constituted by the thin film layer as an integral part thereof, and a core pad projection incorporating therein a core of the magnetic head and projecting beyond an adjacent disk facing surface of the slider body. The sliding pad is provided at a region of the slider body ahead of the core pad projection and prevents generation of a floating force by making use of a relative movement between the slider body and the magnetic disk. The core pad projection is not formed as a continuation of the slider body and is separated from the sliding pad a predetermined distance longitudinally of the slider body by a recess interposed therebetween whereby the core pad projection is positioned closer to the magnetic disk than a back end of the sliding pad.

    摘要： A structure for supporting a magnetic head slider for a linear magnetic disk unit comprises: a magnetic head slider having air bearing rails located opposite to a magnetic disk so as to extend in a direction of a track of the magnetic disk; a gimbal for elastically supporting the magnetic head slider, the gimbal being bonded to a back surface of the magnetic head slider on a side reverse to the air bearing rail; and a support arm having the gimbal secured to its distal end, whose axis extends in a direction perpendicular to the air bearing rail, which support arm gives the magnetic head slider a pressing force toward the magnetic disk. The gimbal includes: a substantially rectangular joining portion to be bonded to the back surface of the magnetic head slider, the joining portion having longer sides extending in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the support arm and shorter sides extending in the axial direction of the support arm; a bridging portion to be bonded to the back face of the magnetic head slider, the bridging portion extending from a middle portion of the lower side of the joining portion on the opposite side to the support arm outwardly in the axial direction of the support arm; flexible portions extending from the bridging portion so as to surround the bridging portion and the joining portion; and a support portion extending from the flexible portions on the opposite side to the bridging portion rearward in the axial direction of the support arm.

    摘要： A magnetic head support mechanism comprises a beam portion and a mount for connection to an actuator, which are integrally formed of a ceramic material. The beam portion has a magnetic head supported on a free end side thereof, which magnetic head comprises a magnetic head element and a magnetic head slider. The beam portion has at a part thereof a curved portion which is formed by spontaneous deformation due to internal stress. The integrated magnetic head support mechanism thus provided can be easily handled similarly to a conventional stainless-steel magnetic head support mechanism.

    摘要： A flying head slider utilizing a negative pressure according to the invention has a front end, a rear end, and an air bearing surface directed to face a rotating recording medium. The air bearing surface includes a pair of side rails extending on both sides of the air bearing surface from the front end in the longitudinal direction of the slider, a center rail provided at the center of the air bearing surface in the transverse direction and extending from the front end to the rear end in the longitudinal direction of the slider, a cross rail extending in the transverse direction of the slider to connect the pair of side rails and the center rail to each other near the front end, a pair of recesses defined by the pair of side rails, the center rail and the cross rail, communicating grooves for communicating the pair of recesses with the front end, and a head mounted on a rear end surface of the center rail. The pair of side rails, the center rail and the cross rail lie substantially in the same plane. The pair of side rails are spaced from the rear end and are terminated at oblique edges in agreement with oblique lines extending from side edges of the slider to the center of the center rail at its rear end. The pair of side rails each has a width shape which is gradually narrowed from the front end toward a narrow portion located in a vicinity of a center of the slider, and is gradually spread from the narrow portion toward the rear end. The center rail is extended from the front end with substantially a constant width, followed by a width shape gradually spreading toward the rear end.

    摘要： A transducer supporting apparatus is provided with a rigid structural support connected to a rigid arm portion and a flexible strucural support provided on the free end of the rigid structural support, the flexible structural support comprising two flexible fingers, a transverse frame connecting the two flexible fingers on the extending side thereof through steps, and a slider mounting portion having a tongue form which extends from this frame and is provided adjacent to the two flexible fingers and a slider loaded with a transducer being junctioned with the slider mounting portion. The flexible fingers are so configurated that the end thereof on the side of the rigid arm portion is brought nearer to the plane formed by the floating surface of the slider than the end thereof on the side of the slider mounting portion.
