摘要: A single-polarization optical fiber comprising a core, an inner cladding surrounding the core, an outer cladding surrounding the inner cladding and at least one pair of stress-applying portions each of which are partially extended into both the inner and outer claddings and which are symmetrical about the axis of the core and having thermal expansion coefficient higher than those of both the inner and outer claddings. When the refractive index of the stress-applying portions is lower than that of the core and higher than that of the inner cladding and further not higher than that of the outer cladding, one of orthogonally polarized mode is cutoff and only one polarized mode can propagate in the optical fiber.

摘要: The invention provides a stimulated Brillouin scattering suppressed optical fiber which is easy to be produced, has an almost zero chromatic dispersion over the entirety of an optical fiber in the lengthwise direction, and has a low light loss. That is, in an optical fiber having a property, by which the chromatic dispersion with respect to optical communication signals becomes zero, obtained by changing the relative refractive index difference of the optical fiber and core diameter in the same increase or decrease direction, the relative refractive index difference of the core and the core diameter R are changed in the lengthwise direction of the optical fiber, and the core diameter R is made smaller in line a decrease the relative refractive index difference of the core while the core diameter R is made larger in line with an increase of the refractive index difference, whereby the chromatic dispersion the designated wavelength band is made nearly equal to zero in the entirety of the optical fiber in the lengthwise direction.

摘要: An induction heating device includes a top plate arranged to have an object placed thereon, a heating coil receiving a high-frequency current to inductively heat the object, an infrared ray sensor for outputting a signal in accordance with energy of received infrared ray, a temperature detector for detecting a temperature of the object based on the signal output from the infrared ray sensor, a heating controller for controlling the high-frequency current supplied to the heating coil based on the detected temperature, and a failure determining unit for determining whether the infrared ray sensor has a failure or not. This induction heating device can detect the failure of the infrared ray sensor, and thus stops or suppresses the heating upon detecting the failure of the infrared ray sensor.

摘要: A 1.5 .mu.m zero dispersion single mode optical fiber comprising a center core, a side core disposed on an outer side of the center core and having a refractive index lower than that of the center core, and a cladding portion disposed on an outer side of the side core. Each of the refractive indices of the center core and the side core has a step-like profile in the direction of the radius of the optical fiber. The bending loss is low. The mode field diameter can be increased without deteriorating the bending loss, and the splice loss can be reduced. The chromatic dispersion varies only to a small extent with respect to changes in the core diameter, so that the zero dispersion wavelength can be well controlled.

摘要: In order to heat and warm only the amount of water required in immediate future and to reduce a power consumption by avoiding warming of unnecessary water, a main body provided with a water storage container and a water heating container can be attached and detached and a water heating amount or a water warming amount to be heated at one time is reduced and divided, thus, power consumption during warming is reduced. Furthermore, since the water storage container is provided independently, water supply can be carried out conveniently regardless of the state of the water-heating container. Water supply to the water-heating container is carried out automatically using a water amount sensor, hence no operation by a user is required.

摘要: An induction heating cooking device includes a heating coil (8) that induction-heats a cooking container, an infrared sensor (10) that detects infrared radiation which is emitted from a bottom surface of the cooking container and that outputs a detection signal based on the quantity of energy of the detected infrared radiation, and a heating control section (9) that controls supply of electric power to the heating coil based on the detection signal. When the temperature of the bottom surface of the cooking container is equal to or higher than a first predetermined temperature which is higher than 230 degrees C., the infrared sensor (10) outputs the detection signal, and when the bottom-surface temperature is lower than the first predetermined temperature, the infrared sensor (10) does not output the detection signal substantially.

摘要: There is provided an induction heating cooking device capable of enhancing detection sensitivity of higher temperatures in cases of using a small amount of oil and capable of preventing reduction of the heating output in cases of cooking at relatively lower temperatures. An induction heating cooking device includes a heating coil (8) that induction-heats a cooking container, an infrared sensor (10) that detects infrared radiation which is emitted from a bottom surface of the cooking container and that outputs a detection signal based on the quantity of energy of the detected infrared radiation, and a heating control section (9) that controls supply of electric power to the heating coil based on the detection signal. The heating control section (9) reduces or stops the electric power supplied to the heating coil when the bottom-surface temperature of the cooking container is equal to or higher than a second predetermined temperature which is higher than the first predetermined temperature and is lower than an ignition temperature of oil.
