摘要: A positioning system using a mobile Internet signal is disclosed. The positioning system includes access points for transmitting downlink signals for mobile Internet communications, an access terminal for generating positioning information using the downlink signals received from the access points and access point information on the access points, and a position determination entity (PDE) for calculating range values between the access terminal and the access points using the positioning information from the access terminal and determining a position of the access terminal using the range values. Since the positioning system determines the position using the mobile Internet signal, an accurate terminal position can be determined even in such environments as downtown, shaded and indoor areas.

摘要: Provided is a position measuring system and method using a Wireless Broadband (WiBro) signal. The position measuring system measures the position of a terminal using relative delay information that is a parameter of the WiBro signal, used for a hand-over. Since the position of a terminal is measured using a parameter for a hand-over, additional data measurement is not required for the position measurement. Furthermore, efficiency in the use of a parameter of a WiBro system can be improved by using a parameter used only in the hand-over for position measurement.

摘要: An apparatus and method for estimating a step length of a user are provided. The apparatus and method use a step length estimation algorithm, e.g. a step length estimation parameter coefficient, according to a movement state of a user, i.e. whether the movement state is a walking state or a running state. The movement state of the user is determined on the basis of an acceleration variance value of an acceleration signal output from an accelerometer. Accordingly, the apparatus and method prevent errors in step length determinations.

摘要: A step detecting apparatus and method in a personal navigator where acceleration signals in at least two directions are acquired from an accelerometer sensor, as a pedestrian moves. Variances of the acceleration signals are calculated and summed. The variance sum is compared with a threshold. If the variance sum is greater than the threshold, it is determined that a detected step is a walking step. If the variance sum is less than the threshold, it is determined that the detected step is a mark-time step.

摘要: Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for measuring the speed of a land vehicle using an accelerometer. The method includes the steps of storing measurement data provided from an accelerometer; analyzing the measurement data to determine whether the vehicle is stopped; calculating a road angle using the measurement data of the accelerometer when it is determined, upon analysis, that the vehicle is moving; determining the sign of the road angle when the road angle is greater than a threshold value; compensating for a gravitational acceleration component included in the measurement data of the accelerometer using the road angle; and calculating the speed of the vehicle based on the acceleration of the vehicle with the gravitational acceleration component compensated. It is possible to reduce the number of expensive gyroscopes needed for a vehicle speed measuring apparatus, thereby reducing the cost of the apparatus.

摘要: An apparatus and a method for step detection in a personal navigation system is disclosed. In the apparatus acceleration signals are obtained from an acceleration sensor in a movement direction and a gravity direction relative to a user. Sliding window summing data for the acceleration signals output from the acceleration sensor in the movement direction and the gravity direction are calculated so as to obtain a sum of the sliding window summing data. Then, a zero crossing point is detected based on differential sliding window summing data. A difference of a detection time between a present zero crossing point and a previous zero crossing point is compared with a threshold value, thereby detecting steps of the user based on the distinct signal pattern for walk. The step detection apparatus distinguishes zero crossing detection caused by chattering (e.g., vibration) of the human body from zero crossing detection caused by the step of the user, so the step detection apparatus more precisely detects the step of the user. Accordingly, it is possible to precisely detect the step of the user in a hand-held type personal navigation system, such as a portable phone or a PDA, including a micro sensor module.
