    摘要: Thermoplastic polymeric composition which feature good physical properties which are relatively insensitive to humidity and further exhibits good barrier properties of the composition comprise:(A) a first conventional polyamide, and(B) an amorphous copolyamide which is polymerized from(B.sub.1) a polyamide forming monomer selected from the group consisting of lactams, aminoalkanoic acids and mixture thereof wherein the monomer is present in a molar proportion of between about 0 and 50%,(B.sub.2) a diamine selected from the group consisting of aralkylene diamines, cycloalkylene diamines and mixtures thereof, the diamine being present in a molar proportion of between about 25 and 60%,(B.sub.3) a dicarboxylic acid selected from the group of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, aralkylene dicarboxylic acids, and aliphatic dicarboxylic acids; preferably the use of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid in conjunction with an aromatic dicarboxylic acid is preferred, at least one aromatic diacid, the dicarboxylic acid being present in a molar proportion of between about 25 and 60%,wherein the (A) and (B) are substantially miscible when formed into a blend composition.The blend composition finds use as a molding composition, as well as a film forming composition, alternately, may be formed into a variety of articles which exhibit improved physical properties.

    摘要: A disk type magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) generator/channel and a hybrid pulse power transformer (HPPT) with a superconductive primary and a normal secondary for producing high power and high current pulses is disclosed. The HPPT surrounds the MHD channel through which hot gas is supplied. The channel upstream from the HPPT is formed into a flat circular configuration with narrow portion directed perpendicular to the channel passing through the HPPT. A MHD disk generator is positioned on the opposite side of the channel directly opposed from the HPPT. The output from the MHD is connected to the primary of the HPPT. Prior to generating power, the superconducting primary winding of the HPPT is charged to a low current. The primary is then connected to the MHD generator/channel for conditioning. When the channel is fired causing gases to flow through the channel causing the magnet current to increase producing a higher primary field and hence more power generation. In this manner the MHD generator is self excited or conditioned and the MHD generator output is stored in the HPPT primary. The energy stored in the primary can be released to the secondary by driving the primary normal by any known method. Other configurations can be used such as conventional MHD channel generators. The primary winding can be made of high temperature superconductors when available.

    摘要: A magnetic gun for the purpose of accelerating a metal clad projectile to high velocities which includes a long dipole magnet extending the length of the gun bore that encloses a plurality of short superconducting dipoles magnets along its length. The short dipoles are superconducting dipoles whose induced current and magnetic field oppose the current and magnetic field of the long dipole. The short dipoles while in a superconducting state prevent the long dipole field from entering the gun bore. When the short dipoles become normal conducting, the current in the short dipoles decay rapidly. When this occurs the field of each of the small dipoles collapse and magnetic flux from the long dipole enters the gun bore at the locaiton of the normal conducting small dipole. This entering flux repels the projectile down the barrel in the direction of least flux, so the projectile is moved to the next short dipole section. This process is repeated in the next section and sequentially down the gun bore so that the projectile is accelerated along the length of the bore and exits therefrom at launch speed.

    摘要: A log periodic VEE antenna particularly useful for space craft including a central mast and dipole antenna elements which are collapsible into a compact configuration for transportation purposes and which are deployable in spring-like fashion when released from their confinement. In one embodiment, the antenna elements themselves are semi-circular elements and confined in a bent position in a suitable container for transportation and which, when removed from the container, spring into deployed position. In another embodiment, the dipole elements are flexible wire with a spine member having a semi-circular spring member bent when the antenna is collapsed and which, when released from its confinement deploys the wire elements. The semi-circular elements besides having a deployment function also give rigidity to the antenna when deployed.
