    Abstract: A coil component includes a wire; a core having a winding core around which the wire is wound and a flange portion provided at an end portion of the winding core in an axial direction; and a terminal electrode to which the wire is connected and that is provided on the flange portion. The terminal electrode has a projecting portion that sticks out in the axial direction relative to the flange portion. The projecting portion has a flat surface along which the wire is thermocompression-bonded. Thermocompression bonding of the wire is performed in a state where an interval between a head surface of a heater chip and the flat surface becomes narrower from a flange portion side toward a front end side of the projecting portion. A degree of crushing of the wire decreases from the front end side toward the flange portion side of the projecting portion.

    Abstract: Advantage is taken of the fact that tin has a higher efficiency of absorption of a laser beam than, for example, copper. A method of manufacturing a coil component includes preparing a wire that includes a linear, central conductor and an insulating coating that covers a circumferential surface of the central conductor, preparing a metal terminal that is to be electrically connected to the central conductor at an end portion of the wire and that has a surface on which a tin-containing film that contains tin is disposed and above which at least the end portion of the wire is to be disposed, and welding the central conductor of the wire to the metal terminal by irradiating at least the tin-containing film with a laser beam with the end portion of the wire disposed along the tin-containing film.

    Abstract: An adhesive layer is in contact with a rising portion of a metal terminal and an outer end surface of a flange portion of a drum-shaped core. A surface of the rising portion that faces the outer end surface is an inclined surface that inclines with respect to the outer end surface.     Abstract: A coil component includes a drum core including a winding core portion and a flange portion disposed on an end portion thereof the winding core portion in its axial direction, a planar core having a lower principal surface, and a wire wound around the winding core portion. The flange portion includes an inner end surface, an outer end surface, a bottom surface, and a top surface. The inner end surface positions the end portion of the winding core portion. The bottom surface links the inner end surface and the outer end surface and placed so as to face a mounting substrate side when being mounted. The lower principal surface of the planar core is fixed to the top surface with an adhesive interposed therebetween. The top surface includes a protrusion with a vertex positioned closer to the inner end surface than to the outer end surface.
