Abstract: A rotating portion of a motor includes a magnet, a yoke, and a hub. An upper portion of the yoke is fixed to the hub. The yoke includes a first inner circumferential surface radially opposite to an outer circumferential surface of the magnet with a first gap intervening therebetween, and a second inner circumferential surface radially opposite to the outer circumferential surface of the magnet with a second gap intervening therebetween below the first inner circumferential surface. The second inner circumferential surface is parallel or substantially parallel to the outer circumferential surface of the magnet, and is located radially outward of the first inner circumferential surface. An adhesive is provided in at least a portion of the first gap. No adhesive is provided in at least a lower axial end portion of the second gap.

Abstract: A disk driving device includes a disk, a motor, an arm, a head, and a housing. The disk rotates about a rotation shaft extending in a vertical direction. The motor causing the disk to rotate. The arm swings about a swinging shaft which is disposed at a position different from the rotation shaft and which extends in the vertical direction. The head is disposed at a tip of the arm and is configured to perform reading or writing of information from or to the disk. The housing accommodates the disk, the motor, the arm, and the head. The housing includes a base plate, a cover, a pivot post, a tubular portion, and a screw. The base plate is a cast product and has a box shape including a bottom wall extending perpendicularly to the rotation shaft and an open top. The cover has a plate shape covering an opening of the base plate. The pivot post is a member separate from the base plate and protrudes upward from a top surface of the bottom wall along the swinging shaft. The tubular portion has a tube shape accommodating the pivot post, and the arm is attached thereto via a bearing disposed on an outer circumference thereof. The screw is inserted into a through-hole provided in the cover and is screwed to a screw hole provided at a top end of the pivot post. The pivot post includes an annular portion in a ring shape protruding in a radial direction from an outer circumferential surface thereof. A top end of the tubular portion is located above the top end of the pivot post and is in contact with a bottom surface of the cover. A bottom end of the tubular portion is disposed on the annular portion.

Abstract: A base portion of a motor includes an annular inner bottom plate portion, a recessed portion and groove portions recessed upward from a lower surface of the inner bottom plate portion, and at least one through hole passing through the inner bottom plate portion in an axial direction. The groove portions are arranged to extend from the recessed portion toward land portions of a circuit board arranged on a lower surface of the base portion. A draw-out surface of the recessed portion has a lower opening of each of the at least one through hole defined therein. A wall surface of the recessed portion includes communicating openings each of which is in communication with one end of a separate one of the groove portions. Conducting wires are drawn out from coils arranged above the base portion to the draw-out surface through the at least one through hole, and are passed through the communicating openings and the groove portions to be soldered to the land portions. The recessed portion has a sealant arranged therein. The lower opening of each of the at least one through hole is covered with the sealant. Drawing the conducting wires out of the recessed portion through the groove portions contributes to preventing the sealant arranged in the recessed portion from overflowing toward the land portions.
