摘要: In a system in which an editing server and a plurality of client computers are capable of communicating with one another, an edited image can be generated by the plurality of client computers. When image data is transmitted from the image server to the client computer, the resolution of image data to be transmitted is reduced in correspondence with the resolution of a monitor display device connected to the client computer. Further, the number of colors of an image represented by the image data is decreased in correspondence with the number of colors which can be displayed on the monitor display device. The data quantity of the image data to be transmitted is reduced, so that time required to transmit the image data is shortened.A client computer and a main image server are connected to each other. A user image to be synthesized on a template image is read in the client computer. Image data representing the template image used for the image synthesis and image data representing a mask image are transmitted from the main image server to the client computer. In the client computer, image synthesis processing is performed. Image data representing an area required for image synthesis of the user image used for the image synthesis is extracted. The extracted user image data and synthesis information required for the synthesis are transmitted from the client computer to the main image server. In the main image server, a composite image is printed.

摘要: An image registration server stores encryption keys of respective ones of a plurality of client terminals. Image data is encrypted by the image registration server using the encryption key corresponding to the client terminal to which the image data is applied. The encrypted image data is applied to the client terminal via a server. The client terminal has a decryption key stored within so that only a client terminal that is duly authorized can decrypt encrypted image data. Other client terminals that are not duly authorized cannot decode the image data. This makes it possible to prevent unlawful use of image data even if the image data has been intercepted.

摘要: An individual not accustomed to operating a computer can obtain, with comparative ease, a modified image that is the result of modifying an image obtained by an image sensing operation. A subject is photographed by a video camera, and an image representing the subject is displayed in a main display area of a display unit. A modification target area is set in the main display area in advance, and icons representing methods of modification are displayed in an auxiliary display area. When one of these icons is selected, the image within the modification target area is modified by the selected modification method. If necessary, the user may move so that the portion of the subject image that the user wishes to be modified will fall within the modification target area.

摘要: In the form of print ordering wherein photograph image data are recorded in a recording medium and brought in to a photographic service provider, a customer can specify on a personal computer a variety of printing conditions for a photographic printer installed in the photographic service provider. A printer driver for the photographic printer of the photographic service provider is installed in a personal computer of a customer. The printer driver receives an input specifying the variety of printing conditions by displaying a printing condition setting screen on a monitor of the personal computer via image processing application software. The image processing application software converts resolution upon necessity in response to the printing conditions, transfers the image data after the conversion and an image of a print paper, both of which are then displayed on a finish confirmation screen by the printer driver. If a confirmation result is OK, the printer driver records the specified printing conditions as ordering information in a recording medium or transfers the ordering information to a network.

摘要: When a picture print is generated by editing a picture image recorded on a film, the print in accordance with a customer's requirements is generated by simple operations and at a low cost. Low resolution image data of a picture image read from a film are recorded in a recording medium, in addition to software for image editing, and provided to a customer so that the customer can carry out editing operations on the picture using a personal computer or the like. When a print is ordered, editing instruction information generated by recording the operations the customer has carried out for the editing is received from the customer via the recording medium. Based on the editing instruction information, a scanner reads a film in high resolution and a printer outputs a print after automatic editing on the image data.

摘要: In a method and a device for moving a cursor on a display or similar screen to point to one of a plurality of selectable areas displayed on the display, data recorded in a data recording medium is read, and coordinates of the position of the selected area are identified on the basis of the data thus read. In response to a signal by holding an inputting device, a direction in which the inputting device is manipulated is detected and direction data is output. Coordinates of the position of the cursor are updated by replacing them with the coordinates of the position of the selected area located in the direction detected. The image data of the cursor is generated on the basis of the coordinates of the position of the cursor and updated. The image data for displaying is processed to display the image data.
