A magnetic brush developer for electrophotography by the reversal development system where a uniform positive charge is imparted to a photoconductive insulator, the insulator is irradiated with a light image to form an electrostatic latent image and the latent image is developed and visualized by a positively charged toner. The developer comprises a carrier of granulated magnetite particles, the surfaces of which are coated with a thermosetting resin containing a fine fluoropolymer powder and a fine magnetite or carbon black powder dispersed therein. When this developer is used, adhesion of the toner to the sleeve is not only prevented at the initial stage of printing but also after continuous printing, and even if continuous printing does conducted, the charge quantity is not reduce, therefore print quality does not degrade.

An imaging device for use in an electrographic imaging process, without a cleaning unit for residual toners, which comprises an image-carrying element, an image exposure means, a developing means, an image transfer means, and a distribution roller means of an elastic and electrically conductive material for uniformly distributing the residual toners over a surface of the image-carrying element and at the same time deelectrifying and recharging the same surface of said element. The imaging device has a simplified and compact structure and does not cause an environmental pollution problem due to the generation of ozone in the device.

A process for preparing a developer for electrostatic images comprising: (1) immersing carrier beads in an organic solution of a resin material comprising a 1,2-butadiene or cyclized cis-1,4-butadiene homopolymer, or a mixture of at least one of the homopolymers and a styrene butadiene copolymer; evaporating the organic solvent of the solution, drying the immersed beads, and curing the resin material by a rotary drying method, to form a resin coating on the carrier beads; (2) blending toner materials at a temperature sufficient to form a toner mass, the toner materials comprising: (a) a binder resin, (b) a colorant, and (c) a charge controlling agent; and (3) pulverizing the blended toner mass to form toner particles and mixing the obtained toner particles with the coated carrier in a predetermined ratio of the total surface area of the carrier to the total projection area of the toner particles.
