Abstract: To provide an image pickup unit that can prevent axis deviation of a movable lens barrel and obtain high-quality picked-up image, a stopper member is positioned and fixed in a state in which the stopper member is abutted against an outer circumferential surface of a rear group lens barrel, movement of a movable lens barrel to a retraction side along a photographing optical axis is restricted by contact of a stopper section of the stopper member and an operation rod, and a movable lens is held in a position for realizing a second focal length.

Abstract: An image pickup system includes a light source apparatus, an objective optical system, an image pickup device, a judging portion configured to judge: an object is observed in which of a distant view and a near view, and an image pickup control portion configured to set a reading mode of the image pickup device according to a judgment result of the judging portion. The light source apparatus is capable of sequentially emitting red light, green light and blue light. The image pickup control portion sets a single pixel reading mode when that the object is observed in the distant view is judged, and blue light is emitted from the light source apparatus, and sets to a pixel addition reading mode when that the object is observed in the distant view is judged, and red light is emitted from the optical apparatus.

Abstract: An endoscope includes an image pickup unit and a treatment instrument channel. The image pickup unit and the treatment instrument channel are adjacent to each other. The image pickup unit includes an objective lens and an image pickup device. In a pixel formation region of the image pickup unit, a segmentation region is set as a region read out as a region for displaying a video. A center of the segmentation region is disposed to be shifted from a center of the pixel formation region toward the treatment instrument channel. An optical axis of the objective lens is parallel to a center axis of the treatment instrument channel. The center of the segmentation region is located on the optical axis.
