Abstract: A hearing system includes a processing device, a hearing aid adapted to be worn by a user, and a data logger. The hearing aid includes an input transducer providing an electric input signal representing sound in the environment of the user, and a hearing aid processor executing a processing algorithm in dependence of a specific parameter setting. The data logger stores time segments of said electric input signal, and data representing a corresponding user intent. The processing device comprises a simulation model of the hearing aid. The simulation model is based on a learning algorithm configured to provide a specific parameter setting optimized to the user's needs in dependence of a hearing profile of the user, the logged data, and a cost function. A method of determining a parameter setting for a hearing aid is further disclosed.

Abstract: A method for calculating gain in a hearing aid includes: recording electrical activity of the brain in response to a sound signal, computing a temporal response function based on the recorded activity, comparing the computed temporal response function with a template temporal response function, and calculating a gain in the hearing aid based on the difference between the computed temporal response function and the template temporal response function.

Abstract: A hearing system comprises a hearing device, e.g. a hearing aid or a headset, configured to be worn by a user. The hearing device comprises at least one input transducer for providing at least one electric input signal representative of sound in the environment of the hearing device, wherein said at least one electric input signal comprises a target signal component assumed to be of current interest to the user, and a noise component. The hearing device further comprises a noise control system configured to provide an estimate of said target signal component and an estimate of said noise component and to apply a statistical structure to said noise component to thereby provide a modified noise component comprising said statistical structure; and to determine a modified estimate of said target signal component in dependence of said modified noise component. Thereby an improved segregation of sound sources may be provided.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments of a method of cognitive adaptation which can be used for a hearing aid to a user. The method includes determining effort and environmental sound distributions over time and modifying settings of the hearing aid based on the optimization of estimations of future effort and environment.
