Abstract: A component supplying apparatus comprises an inclined straight path P2 which is for the carrier tape and which extends obliquely upward, a horizontal straight path P3 which is for the carrier tape and which extends in the horizontal direction from a front end of the inclined path P2 and runs through the component supply position Q, a first sprocket wheel engaging with the feed holes of the carrier tape within the inclined path P2, a guide member locating the carrier tape in the width direction within the horizontal path, a top tape removing device disposed above the inclined path P2 between the first sprocket wheel and the horizontal path P3 and partially removing the top tape from the base tape so as to expose the components, and a sprocket wheel drive device rotating the first sprocket wheel.

Abstract: A second tape conveying mechanism 20B includes a sprocket 21B allowed to rotate freely only in a first rotating direction corresponding to a tape conveying direction, and a first urging member 30 which urges and causes a carrier tape 14 to engage the sprocket 21B. When a preceding tape 14(1) engages the sprocket 21B and a subsequent tape 14(2) is inserted, the second tape conveying mechanism 20B abuts against a leading end of the subsequent tape 14(2) to prohibit entry of the subsequent tape 14(2). After the preceding tape 14(2) passes a tape stopper 35a, a position of the second tape conveying mechanism 20B is changed from a tape entry prohibition position to a tape entry permission position.

Abstract: A tape feeder includes: a feeder bottom support that rotatably holds a sprocket; and a tape presser mechanism that presses a carrier tape toward the feeder bottom support. The tape presser mechanism includes a tape presser that is at one end pivotally supported by the feeder bottom support and swingable to the feeder bottom support and that presses the carrier tape toward the sprocket while situated at a close position where the tape presser is closed to the feeder bottom support, and a tape presser operation member that is swingably attached to the feeder bottom support and that swings between a fixed position where the tape presser operation member presses the other end of the tape presser toward the feeder bottom support and an unfixed position where the other end of the tape feeder is released from pressure.
