Abstract: A multi-spool gas turbine engine comprises a low pressure (LP) spool and a high pressure (HP) spool. The LP spool has an LP shaft for transferring a torque from an LP turbine to an LP compressor. The HP spool has an HP shaft for transferring a torque from an HP turbine to an HP compressor. The LP shaft is coaxially mounted inside the HP shaft. An inter-shaft bearing is mounted radially between the LP shaft and the HP shaft. The inter-shaft bearing is disposed axially between the HP compressor and the LP compressor.

Abstract: An engine includes first and second power inputs, and a power output. A transmission includes an epicyclic gear train engaged with the first power input and selectively engageable with the power output. The gear train has a sun gear centrally disposed and defining a center axis of the gear train, a ring gear, and planet gears mounted to a carrier. The planet gears are rotatable about respective planet gear axes. The planet gears are disposed in meshed engagement with the sun gear and the ring gear. A brake engageable in a first position with one of the sun gear, the carrier, and the ring gear slows a rotation thereof to transfer power from the first power input to the power output. The brake in a second position is disengageable from the sun gear, the carrier or the ring gear to decouple the first power input from the power output.

Abstract: An assembly for a gas turbine engine having: static and rotating components; a seal between the static and rotating components, and between a cavity and an environment outside thereof, the cavity having an inlet fluidly connectable to a source of lubricant and an outlet fluidly connectable to a scavenge pump for drawing lubricant out of the cavity; and a drain conduit having a drain inlet outside the cavity in proximity to the seal for receiving leaked lubricant, and a drain outlet fluidly connected to the outlet of the cavity, the drain outlet located in proximity to a scavenge inlet via which the lubricant exits the cavity to flow toward the scavenge pump such that, in use, a lubricant flow within the drain conduit is entrained by the lubricant exiting the cavity via the scavenge inlet.

Abstract: A gas turbine engine has a LP spool including an LP shaft and a HP spool including an HP shaft, an accessory gear box (AGB) drivingly engaged to a plurality of accessories, an engine starter drivingly engaged to the AGB, and a drive shaft drivingly engaged to the AGB. In a first engine mode, the drive shaft is drivingly engaged to the HP shaft and is disengaged from the LP shaft, the engine starter is in driving engagement with the HP shaft via the drive shaft, and the LP shaft is disengaged from the AGB. In a second engine mode, the drive shaft is drivingly engaged to the LP shaft and is disengaged from the HP shaft, the LP shaft is in driving engagement with the AGB via the drive shaft, and the HP shaft is disengaged from the AGB.
