Abstract: This positive electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided with: a positive electrode active material including lithium composite oxide particles containing not less than 80 mol % but less than 100 mol % of Ni with respect to the total number of moles of metal elements other than Li; and a conductive material, wherein the lithium composite oxide particles include particles each having a step-like structure with three or more stacked flat surfaces having an outer edge length of 1 μm or more, and the average particle size of the conductive material is 30 nm or less.

Abstract: Provided is a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery that exhibits an improved charging/discharging efficiency at low cost. A positive electrode active material included in this non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a lithium-transition metal composite oxide containing 90 mol % or more of Ni and Mn with respect to the total molar amount of metal elements other than Li. The lithium-transition metal composite oxide is composed of single particles and/or secondary particles formed through aggregation of 2-100 of the single particles. The average particle size of the single particles is 0.5-1.5 μm. A boron compound is attached on the surface of the lithium-transition metal composite oxide.

Abstract: Provided is a positive electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery of one embodiment, wherein a positive electrode active substance is constituted of single particles having no grain boundary therein. The single particles include first single particles having a particle diameter of at least 4 μm, and second single particles having a particle diameter smaller than that of the first single particles. In a positive electrode mixture layer, the second single particles are disposed around the first single particles. The second single particle, among the second single particles disposed adjacent to the first single particles, with the smallest particle diameter has a particle diameter that is no more than ⅕ of the particle diameter of the first single particle adjacent to said second single particle. The first single particles account for 3-30% relative to the total number of the particles in the positive electrode active substance.

Abstract: A positive electrode active material for a non-aqueous-electrolyte secondary battery contains a nickel-containing lithium transition metal oxide and is a primary particle alone of a lithium transition metal oxide that contains nickel in an amount of 80 mol % or more relative to the whole molar quantity of a metal element other than lithium or a secondary particle formed by aggregation of two to five particles. A rare earth compound and a magnesium compound adhere to the surface of the primary particle alone or the secondary particle.
