Abstract: A first light source device includes: a solid-state light source; a condenser element that collects light from the solid-state light source; a retardation plate that converts linearly polarized light into circularly polarized light; and a reflection plate, wherein the retardation plate is disposed at a point of incidence of collected light and divergent light between the condenser element and the reflection plate. A second light source device includes: a solid-state light source; a retardation plate that changes a polarization direction of light from the solid-state light source to make a ratio of polarization and s-polarization components of the light constant under control; and a dichroic mirror that separates the light from the retardation according to the polarization direction, wherein the retardation plate is disposed at a point of incidence of one of collected light and divergent light between the solid-state light source and the dichroic mirror.

Abstract: The light source apparatus of the present disclosure includes a solid-state light source, a dichroic mirror for reflecting blue excitation light emitted from the solid-state light source, a phase difference plate for receiving the excitation light reflected on the dichroic mirror, a fluorescent plate having a fluorescent region irradiated with the excitation light, which is reflected on the dichroic mirror and transmitted through the phase difference plate, to emit fluorescent light and a reflection region for reflecting the excitation light, and a plurality of condenser lenses that are disposed between the phase difference plate and the fluorescent plate and condense the excitation light and the fluorescent light. Among the plurality of condenser lenses, the condenser lens closest to the fluorescent plate is made of a glass material having a linear expansion coefficient of 32.5×10−7 or less.

Abstract: A light source device has a blue solid-state light source, a red solid-state light source, a first retardation plate, a dichroic mirror, a phosphor plate, a second retardation plate, and a reflector. The first retardation plate causes light from the blue solid-state light source to have a phase difference. The dichroic mirror provides the light from the blue solid-state light source with polarization separation, receiving the light from the blue solid-state light source and light from the red solid-state light source in an identical direction. The phosphor plate emits fluorescence light, excited by one light, separated by the dichroic mirror. The second retardation plate converts, into circular polarization, polarization of the light from the red solid-state light source and other light, separated by the dichroic mirror. The reflector reflects light converted into circular polarization by being passed through the second retardation plate.

Abstract: The light source device and the projection display apparatus include a solid-state light source unit, a dichroic mirror, a fluorescent plate, a first wave plate, and a multi-reflection mirror. The solid-state light source unit emits first and second linearly polarized light rays at a predetermined ratio, the first and the second linearly polarized light rays being orthogonal to each other. The dichroic mirror separates the first and the second linearly polarized light rays, and combines blue light with yellow light. The fluorescent plate emits the yellow light to the dichroic mirror when the fluorescent plate is excited by the first linearly polarized light ray separated by the dichroic mirror. The first wave plate converts the second linearly polarized light ray separated by the dichroic mirror, into circularly polarized light. The multi-reflection mirror reflects the circularly polarized light to the dichroic mirror as the blue light.
