Abstract: An exemplary apparatus for measuring the concentration of a test substance in an organism disclosed herein includes: a measurement system which measures first and second concentrations that are concentrations of the test substance at positions A and B, respectively, where the positions A and B are located inside of the organism but outside of the blood vessel of the organism, and the position B is located more distant from the blood vessel than the position A is; and a decision circuit which determines, based on the first and second concentrations, whether or not an equilibrium has been established yet between a concentration of the test substance inside of the blood vessel and a concentration of the test substance measured at a position inside of the organism but outside of the blood vessel of the organism.

Abstract: A pathogen detection apparatus includes a collector that collects a pathogen in air; a reactor that causes the pathogen collected by the collector to react with a labeled substance; a time measurer that measures time from start of reaction in the reactor; a detector that detects a quantity of labeled substance that has reacted with the pathogen; and a controller. The controller calculates a gradient value on the basis of a predetermined time period from the start of reaction measured by the time measurer and the quantity of labeled substance detected by the detector, and determines, on the basis of the gradient value, a time interval to next collection that is to be performed by the collector.

Abstract: A detection apparatus includes: a substrate; a metal nanostructure on a surface of the substrate and on which immobilized antibodies having a property of binding with a detection object substance are immobilized, the metal microstructure generating a surface plasmon by being irradiated with excitation light; an introducer that introduces labeled antibodies having a property of binding with the detection object substance and labeled with a fluorescent material, and a test solution containing the detection object substance into the metal nanostructure; a light source that irradiates the metal nanostructure with the excitation light from the back surface side of the substrate; and a photodetector that detects the detection object substance based on fluorescence generated from the fluorescent material in response to irradiation of the excitation light. The metal nanostructure includes a light transmissive portion that transmits, to the surface side of the substrate, the excitation light emitted from the back surface side thereof.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for detecting an analyte with high sensitivity. In the present method, a solution is supplied onto a substrate comprising a first electrode and a second electrode. Then, an alternating voltage is applied between the first electrode and the second electrode to aggregate, onto the surface between the first electrode and the second electrode by dielectrophoresis, bioparticles and dielectric particles contained in the solution. The aggregated bioparticles are broken to release the analyte contained in the bioparticles. The released analyte is bound to a first antibody and a second antibody to cause the dielectric particles to be immobilized onto the substrate through formation of a sandwich structure composed of the first antibody, the analyte, and the second antibody. Finally, the analyte is detected through the fluorescent substance contained in the immobilized dielectric particles.
