    Abstract: A method, computer readable media and a system for determining a Voice over LTE (VoLTE) codec is presented. In one embodiment a method includes discovering a packet header size used in a session using a Silence Insertion Descriptor (SID); inspecting downlink packet sizes coming into a receive buffer; determining when three consecutive packet sizes are greater than zero, then setting a first factor, a second factor, and a third factor equal to zero; calculating a header size; and determining a voice encoding codec by subtracting a header overhead value from the packet size.

    Abstract: A method, system and computer-readable media are presented for providing forked handover. In one embodiment a method includes building, by a HetNet Gateway (HNG), a cache of all neighbors of a source cell; organizing a list of cells, the list including an original target cell and at least one additional target cell; when a handover determination is to be made, determining the most probable additional cells where a User Equipment (UE) may land if it does not go to the original target cell; duplicating, by the HNG, indirect forwarding data packets coming in from the UE and sending the packets to all additional target cells; and canceling, by the HNG, handovers from all cells other than the target cell target which catches the UE.

    Abstract: This invention provides outer-loop link adaptation. A way to improve the BLER value and adapt better the link to the current transmission and scenario, is to recognize this kind of scenarios, and adapt the system to work according to it.
    In one embodiment, a method includes providing a service having a configuration including a Modulation Coding Scheme (MCS) margin size, a step size and a target Block Error Rate (BLER), wherein each BLER includes an adjusted step size according to a transmission type sensitivity; and adding to each Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) process waiting for a HARQ response, a parameter per code word that holds the used MCS value.

    Abstract: A method is disclosed for reducing processor utilization at a cellular base station, comprising: sending a number of random access preambles in a System Information Block (SIB) that may be less than 64; subtracting the number of random access preambles from 64 to obtain a ceiling of dedicated preambles; and using root sequences to generate a number of dedicated preambles less than or equal to the number of random access preambles, thereby reducing processor utilization relative to generating 64 preambles.

In one embodiment a method includes receiving, from a RACH receiver at a Preamble Prioritization Element (PPE), a list of detected preambles from a plurality of User Equipment (UE) devices, the preambles having a configured priority for different preamble groups; providing, by the PPE, an ordered prioritized list of the detected preambles; and forwarding, by the PPE to a RACH response element, a predetermined number of detected preambles from the ordered prioritized list.
