    摘要: A wireless communication unit includes a transmitter for processing a baseband transmit signal to produce a first radio frequency signal. A receiver is arranged to convert a second radio frequency signal to a baseband receive signal, where the receiver has a summation module arranged to add a cancellation signal to the baseband receive signal. A selectivity element is arranged to couple the transmitter and the receiver to an antenna, where a reduced portion of the first radio frequency signal is introduced into the second radio frequency signal thereby creating a second order inter-modulation distortion component in the baseband receive signal. An adaptive estimator module has a filter for filtering the baseband receive signal to remove dc offsets associated with the second order inter-modulation distortion component and generate the cancellation signal based on the baseband transmit signal and the filtered baseband receive signal for inputting to the summation module.

    摘要: An all digital model of nonlinear transmitter signal distortion in signals received at a receiver of a transmitter-receiver may be used to estimate distortion. The estimated distortion may then be cancelled from the received signals to improve signal quality of the received signal. The digital nonlinear model may be part of an estimator circuit that estimates nonlinear distortion terms by applying a formula or transformation to a digitized version of the signals transmitter at a transmitter of the transmitter-receiver. A mixer may be used to shift a frequency of the estimated nonlinear terms away from a transmitter frequency so that the nonlinear terms can later be subtracted from the incoming signal received at the receiver at a receiver frequency. Circuits and methods are provided.

The forward path and feedback path form a constant gain tracking (CGT) loop. The feedback path comprises an adaptive predistortion logic module located outside of the CGT loop and arranged to form an APD loop with the forward path and feedback path. The CGT loop comprises a controller logic module arranged to determine a gain offset of a signal routed through the forward path and feedback path and in response thereto set a drive level of the PA.

    摘要: A predetermined nonlinearity may be introduced between a digital predistorter and a power amplifier of a RF transmitter. The nonlinearity may be applied to an output of a digital predistorter. The application of the nonlinearity to the predistorter output may expand a bandwidth of the predistorter output from a first lower bandwidth to a higher second bandwidth of the power amplifier that may be needed to support a predetermined data transfer rate at the RF transmitter. Introducing this nonlinearity between the predistorter and the power amplifier may reduce the sampling rate and power requirements of components included as part of a predistortion device. As a result less noise may be generated and less power may be consumed, resulting in smaller, more efficient, and more accurate predistortion and/or RF transmission systems.

    摘要: A wireless communication unit comprises a transmitter having a power amplifier and a feedback path operably coupled to the power amplifier. The feedback path comprises a coupler for feeding back a portion of a signal to be transmitted and a detector for detecting a power level of the fed back signal. A controller provides a ramp signal to the power amplifier that controls an amplitude characteristic of the signal to be transmitted. Averaging logic is operably coupled to the detector and arranged to average the detected power level over a first period. Comparison logic is operably coupled to the averaging logic and arranged to compare the average detected power level with a reference value. The controller is operably coupled to the comparison logic and arranged to scale a ramp signal applied to the power amplifier in response to the comparison.
