摘要: A controlled method of changing the transport rate of particles between two zones is disclosed. Changes are made in a computed value of the pressure difference of the conduit between the two zones through which the particles are transported. The changes are of a predetermined magnitude and are performed at predetermined time intervals, until the desired final value of the pressure difference is reached. The method minimizes fluctuations in the pressures of the two zones without over-sized vessels or additional equipment that would otherwise be needed to accommodate pressure changes. This results in a savings in construction costs. This invention is adaptable to a multitude of processes for the catalytic conversion of hydrocarbons in which deactivated catalyst particles are regenerated.

摘要: A controlled method of transporting catalyst between two zones while inhibiting communication between the atmospheres of the zones is disclosed. Communication between the zones is inhibited by controlling pressure differences. The two zones are separated by a means to lift catalyst, which results in a savings in construction costs. This invention is adaptable to a multitude of processes for the catalytic conversion of hydrocarbons in which deactivated catalyst particles are regenerated.

摘要: A method and apparatus for replacing particles in a process that transfers particles is disclosed. This invention employs a seal zone which is in communication with two zones of the process and in which particles that are being added to the process are purged. This invention allows particles to be replaced without reducing the normal rate of particle transfer through the process, which results in a savings in downtime costs. This invention is adaptable to a multitude of processes for the catalytic conversion of hydrocarbons in which deactivated catalyst particles are regenerated.

摘要: A regeneration process is described that eliminates or greatly reduces thermal channelling in a cooling zone bed. The method controls the flow rate of cooling gas independently of the requirements of the regeneration process for combusting coke and for halogenating or drying the catalyst. In one embodiment, a portion of a cooling stream is bypassed around a cooling zone and then passed to a drying zone. In another embodiment, one portion of a cooling stream from a cooling zone is vented, and another portion of the stream is passed to a drying zone.

摘要: A process and apparatus is presented for the improved selectivity of oxygenate conversion to olefins. The process includes passing a process stream through a two stage reactor, wherein the process stream is separated from the catalyst in the first stage before passing the process stream to the second stage. The catalyst is continuously passed through the two stages, and cycles through a regeneration unit to control the carbon content on the catalyst.

摘要: Processes and apparatuses for regenerating catalyst particles are provided. The processes include introducing spent catalyst particles to a burn zone in a continuous catalyst regenerator. When introduced, the catalyst particles, which contain a platinum group metal, carry coke deposits. In the process, a combustion gas at a temperature of at least 490° C. with an oxygen content of at least 0.5 mol % is fed to the burn zone. There, the coke deposits on the catalyst particles are combusted with the combustion gas. The catalyst particles are passed from the burn zone to a halogenation zone in the continuous catalyst regenerator and the catalyst particles are oxyhalogenated to redisperse the platinum group metal to form regenerated catalyst particles.

摘要: The invention comprises an absorption heat pump to supply energy to a distillation process or an outside process. The streams used to effect the absorption heat pump are to be combined in any case as a feedstream to a conversion process, and energy thus is conserved by avoiding the necessity of reseparating the streams.

摘要: A distillation column is disclosed. The column includes a plurality of rectification zones and corresponding stripping zones. Each rectification zone is linked to a heat pump or a stage of a heat pump. Overhead material from the top rectification zone is compressed and used to heat bottoms liquid from the bottom stripping zone. Similarly, overhead material from a lower rectification zone is compressed and used to heat liquid taken from the uppermost or top stripping zone. Optionally, overhead material from a middle rectification zone is compressed and used to heat liquid from a middle stripping zone. A single multiple stage heat pump compressor may be utilized as opposed to a plurality of heat pumps. Because the heat exchanger from each rectification-stripping zone pair has a lower duty, economical stab-in heat exchangers may be utilized.
