摘要： An apparatus (10) for transforming digital data stored in a memory (18) into sounds is disclosed. The apparatus includes an oscillator (12) which drives an address selector (14). The address selector drives the memory. A note generator (20) generates an analog electrical signal responsive to the memory, and a speaker with its associated amplifier stages (22) produces sounds corresponding to the analog electrical signal.A preferred arrangement of the note generator includes an inverting amplifier which can simply be a logic gate (44) and a plurality of resistors (50) selected by switches (56) in feedback relationship with the amplifier.A preferred arrangement includes a duty cycle selector (80) to produce harmonics of the fundamental frequency of the analog electrical signal.

摘要： An in-line data protector for preventing a test set from accessing a telephone line under a predetermined condition is disclosed. The in-line data protector selectively connects the test set and the telephone line responsive to detection of a data signal on the telephone line. The in-line data protector includes a power circuit for providing general operating power, a processor connected to the telephone line, and a relay serially connected between the telephone line and the test set. When general operating power is received, the processor analyzes the telephone line by emulating a single band filter. By using a single band filter, a very good determination can be made as to whether a signal on the telephone line is a data signal or a voice signal. If the signal is not a data signal, the processor instructs the relay to close, thereby connecting the telephone line to the test set.

The switch is operably coupled to the controller when the housings are coupled together whereby the controller may appropriately control the machine's power source when the switch is converted to the emergency state. To replace the switch, the switch's housing is uncoupled from the controller's housing to remove the switch unit and a new switch unit is coupled to the controller's housing.

摘要： The present invention solves both the dangling pointer problem and the garbage collection problem in software systems. Safe object pointers are divided into strong and weak pointers. Strong pointers point to an object unless they are explicitly assigned a new value, set to null, or destroyed. Weak pointers point to an object as long as the object has not been destroyed. If an object is destroyed, the weak pointer effectively becomes null, thus allowing the breaking up of cycles of references in a computer memory.
