摘要: A method of disinfecting a hydrogen peroxide stable contact lens is provided wherein a contact lens is contacted with a hydrogen peroxide solution in a container and a hydrogen peroxide decomposition means is provided in said container, which means is adapted to permit the contact lens to have a cumulative (% peroxide) (min) exposure from the time said decomposition means contacts said peroxide containing solution, time zero, over a period of no greater than 12 hours of at least 20% peroxide.multidot.minute. An apparatus capable of carrying out such method is also provided herein. The hydrogen peroxide decomposition means may be, for example, a prepoisoned catalyst, a catalyst partially enclosed in a tube, a dual catalyst control system or a distributed catalyst control system.

摘要: A method of carrying out a reaction in a solution catalytically comprising contacting a solid catalytically active material and a solution in which a catalytic reaction is to be carried out wherein the catalytic reaction yields a gas which adheres to the catalyst particles such that as the reaction is substantially complete in the immediate environment of the catalyst, the catalyst migrates to a reactant richer portion.

摘要: A contact lens disinfecting kit having an open topped lens container, an elongated piercer mounted in the lens container in an upright position and having piercing portions thereon projecting to the vicinity of the open top of the lens container, the piercer dividing the interior of the lens container into two separate contact lens receiving parts, and an open topped solution container attached to the lens container for being foldable over against the lens container with the open top thereof facing the open top of the lens container and having a shape with a peripheral edge around the open top thereof which fits snugly into the open top of the lens container. A sterilizing or disinfecting solution is contained in the solution container, and a pierceable cover is sealed to the edge of the solution container around the open top thereof, the piercer projecting sufficiently toward the solution container when the solution container is folded over against the lens container to pierce the pierceable cover. A catalyst is provided in the lens container for decomposing the sterilizing agent in the solution.

摘要: A contact lens disinfection unit constituted by a container, a cap detachably mounted on the container, and a lens and catalyst block holder mounted on and depending from the cap and extending into the container when the cap is mounted on the container. The holder engages a pair of contact lens for holding the contact lenses with the surfaces thereof exposed to the space around the holder, and has structure for holding catalyst block on the holder in a position for circulation of a disinfectant solution, from the space around the holder over the catalyst block. The catalyst block can be detachably held so that it can be replaced when the catalyst is depleted.
