摘要： An electronic document reading device includes an electronic page having at least one display surface and a page support. The page is attached to the page support such that the page is physically turnable. The device also includes a memory to store at least part of a document to be read and a page driver coupled to the memory, to drive the page display surface to display a first stored portion of the document. The device further includes a sensing system to sense turning of the page and an update control system coupled to the sensing system to control update of the display surface with a second stored portion of the document responsive to sensing of the page turning. The update control system is configured to control the updating such that the updating is at least partially hidden from a viewpoint of a user of the device.

摘要： A method of producing a plurality of pixellated display devices, each device including a first component comprising an array of independently controllable pixel electrodes; and a second component comprising an array of pixel filters comprising at least two different types of pixel filters of differing optical transmission characteristics, each pixel filter being associated with a respective one of said pixel electrodes; wherein the method comprises: producing said first component by a production method that inevitably results in some distortion within the array of pixel electrodes causing up to a maximum degree of variation in pixel electrode pitch between different regions of said array of pixel electrodes; applying said second component to said first component by a technique that can result in up to a maximum degree of misalignment between an alignment reference position on the first component and an alignment reference position on the second component; and configuring said array of pixel filters as an array of pixel filters in a neutral framework, said neutral framework defining a separation distance between each pixel filter that is sufficiently large to prevent any pixel filter of the array of pixel filters overlapping with more than one of said pixel electrodes even with said maximum variation in pixel electrode pitch between different regions of said array of pixel electrodes and with said maximum degree of misalignment between said alignment reference position on the first component and said alignment reference position on the second component.

摘要： A technique comprising: forming laterally-extending switching circuitry of a device for controlling an overlying laterally-extending array of pixel conductors of said device; forming an electrically conductive laterally-extending patterned screen over said switching circuitry via a first insulating region, said patterned screen defining holes for receiving conductive interlayer connects between said switching circuitry and said array of pixel conductors; and thereafter: forming a second insulating region over said patterned screen, forming said array of pixel conductors over said patterned screen via said second insulating region for capacitative coupling with said patterned screen, forming through holes through at least said first and second insulating regions at the locations of said holes defined in said patterned screen, and forming said interlayer connects in said through holes; and wherein said patterned screen is configured such that the area of overlap between the array of pixel conductors and underlying conductive elements is substantially constant within a range of lateral positions of the pixel conductors relative to the switching circuitry, which range is greater in a first direction than 40% of the pitch of the pixel conductors in said first direction.

The first component has some distortion within the array of pixel electrodes causing a variation in pixel electrode pitch between different regions of the array. The second component is applied to the first component to provide misalignment between an alignment reference position on the first component and an alignment reference position on the second component. An array of pixel filters is formed in a neutral framework having a separation distance between each pixel filter that prevents any pixel filter of the array of pixel filters overlapping with more than one of said pixel electrodes.
