A License Sanction Enforcement System™ technology that includes at least one sensor worn by an individual to be monitored and a data storage unit. The sensor can detect directional angle and acceleration motion. The data storage unit is coupled with the sensor and stores the angle kinematic data detected by the sensor. The device determines whether the individual is operating or has operated a motor vehicle based upon analysis of the angle and acceleration data, and creates a record in the data storage unit of each occurrence that operation of a motor vehicle is detected. Alternatively, the data storage unit may be used to store the raw detection data, which can be transferred to an external data processing device for analysis.

Burner combustion of a fossil fuel fired boiler is optimized by using information about the combustion of each burner in the one or more groups of burners in the boiler. Controlled changes to certain combustion related manipulate variables selected for each burner are used with the combustion index for that burner to tune the combustion of each of the burners in each of the groups of burners to give a balanced combustion. Global objectives such as minimizing global NOx and CO emissions can also be achieved.

A method, computer program product and a system for preemptively tripping a fossil fuel fired burner of a steam generator before the burner is tripped when amplitude of any of two or more signals that represent a property of temporal combustion of the flame such as intensity or flicker frequency reaches an associated preselected signal strength. The signals that represent a property of temporal combustion are combined in a predetermined manner to give a quality signal that is used to preemptively trip the burner when the quality signal reaches a preselected signal strength.
